  1. One wishes for a sudden heavy snowfall…

  2. Put ‘em back on!

I know we’re gonna hear from Barb.  And I’m gonna agree with her.  Altho I would never support a law to ban it, I think killing 70 animals for one coat is tacky and sucks.  So is PETA.

  3. Don’t be fooled, guys. If these protesters truly knew about/cared about furbearers they would have written that sign in Norwegian and Russian instead of English. These protesters are using animals as another lame excuse to bash the USA.

    angry

  4. A huge hail storm would have been great right then! The kind that hurts mightily when you get hit! Even better the kind that dents automobiles that are caught in it.

Fur coats are cool! And made the incredibly beatiful woman I was dating even more alluring. Fuck off Peta! Peole have been making fur coats for thousands of years.

Why is it they only harrass rich women in fur coats instead of Harley riding leather wearing bikers with their foolish animal campaign?

  5. Not Genesis: “And The Lord sleweth every fuggin’ mink in the Garden and made one coat for Eve”.

Something about that would conflict with being stewards of creation.

  6. The people at PETA are sort of interesting.  They’re completely disconnected from the food chain (or creation in biblical terms) and ordinary reality.  When the Palistinians sent a “suicide” donkey to blow up some Israelis, they protested the killing of the donkey, not the killing of the Israelis.  Oh well, at least they don’t put the ugly women up front.  Anyone notice that the lady to the left of the sign has a cute ass?  Good pushin’ cushin!

  7. A good mudslide might be aesthetically justifiable in this case....

  8. Barb Checking in.
As a good libertarian I think that wearing fur is a personal decision-albeit the WRONG personal decision. There’s no way that fur will look better on a person than on the animal it came from.
An ad my mother ran in the college newspaper she was the managing editor of in the ‘80’s said-and I’m paraphrasing-It takes 100 beautiful animals to clothe one ugly soul.

    amen.

  9. SUMMARY: It’s a matter of proportion.  Food, leather coats, boots, shoes, OK.

Altho rightly legal, 70 dead mink for ONE coat is being a greedy swinish pig. pig (Sorry Aunt Edna)

Proportion! Example: my kids’ were infinitely more important to me that my dog or cats. BUT my cats’ right to sleep undisturbed on the sofa exceeded a kid’s right to drag him off by his tail.  And Kitty was prepared to make that ‘point’—with the point of his claws.  Seemed fair to me.

Having more rights does not equal the right to do anything at all.

  10. I believe in humane treatment for animals....I just don’t want to hear it from PETA.

  11. Paul Weir - I agree with you .............I have a mink coat & a fox coat & I wear them as they are so very warm in cold weather.......I don’t care what PETA thinks.......I have a very old fox jacket & a very old rabbitt fur jacket that I am going to recycle & have teddy bears made from them for my grandaughter............There is a woman here that makes teddy bears from old furs - it will cost about $100. to have this done but I think she would enjoy receiving them from Grandma D...............

  12. OINK grabs the reins in his teeth (a sight to behold) and steers the runaway team back on topic.

Issue: NOT meat, leather shoes, leather coats, Dottie/Eskimos wearing a fur coat.

Issue: Is it a valid expression of stewardship to kill 70 mink for one richbitch’s coat?

  13. I have always had pets around from day one - even though it is the house joke that I love the dog best (over the 4 human children), I still see them as a lesser life form (if you will) and move on when death comes. [even with the cat I had from the day he was 6 weeks old and my dad brought him home in his suit pocket until I put him to sleep 17 years later - greatest cat to ever shed fur]. I was taught as a child, never name the lambs as it makes it hard to eat the chops. But having said that I fished, cleaned and grilled from the moment I could hold a pole and couldn’t shoot bambi if I tried but know great recipes to do with the meat. In other words I live in the real world. I enjoy veggies and fruit but damn a philly, crab legs or chunk of cake piled with frosting is great too. I don’t hold with factory farms (which are one of the most inhumane things I’ve seen lately) but the crap that PETA does - does their ‘mission’ more harm than good. I only applaud them for one presentation [which probably few saw as it was logical and rational and took on a pharmaceudical co], their piece on Premarin made me a convert, I’ll blow everyone away while naked before I’ll take that crap.

    big surprise

I guess I’m saying that somewhere in the middle of harpooning a whale and skinning 70 mink for a coat and the PETA antics and inconqruent social stands - is reality and the best way to live. Cat is on the couch and dog is on the bed - all is right in my world.

  14. ward: Excellent. Sensible.

A just cause is not sullied by the assininity of its wacko allies, else slavery would have been justified by Harper’s Ferry and Bloody Kansas.

  15. OCM #17 - could care less about the mink with a brain the size of a nut - I enjoy my mink coat............What’s the difference about killing a fish/lobster/crab/cow/lamb/pig/chicken/turkey to eat & the killing of a idiot mink so I can wear it’s fur????????
