Take away the trees, etc. in the foreground, and the two pillars, it could be a photo of the Western USA desert, seen from afar. Assuming, that is, that it wasn’t photoshopped. Seeing is not believing.
True, Bro OCM. I saw plenty of undisputed tsunami movies on the Discovery-type channels. The tsunami ‘wave’ looked nothing like an ocean wave with a crest. It resembled a ‘run for the hills the dam has burst’ type wave, sweeping garbage before it.
Anybody care to make an educated guess as to how much “information” on the Web is pure B.S.?
I would venture at least eighty-five percent. Any other ideas? What do you professional computer types say?
What are you trying to do, Cat, stir up a fuss? (So what else is new?)
The answer to your question is no, certain contributors nothwithstanding.
Sp. “notwithstanding.” Sorry about that, chaps.
The Web puts the kabosh to the notion that better communication will solve all of mankind’s problems.
Good point, Oink.
What was that line out of the Hitchhiker? “The babelfish, by removing all barriers to communication between different races and cultures, has caused more and bloodier wars than anything in history?” Something like that?
I could chuckle when I first heard that line, but about 30 years have passed since then.
Often the best communication is NO communication.
Thou speaketh a mouthfull. After practicing as a Social Worker, I dont want to know any more personal secrets. I’m a tomb with people’s confidences. Paraphrase: If people knew how much trouble communication (and self-lessness) caused, they’d recommond it a lot less. Often it’s best to tell others what you want and shut up.
“She’s the sort of woman who lives for others. You can spot those others by their hunted expressions.”
The issue is deriving information from amongst the data amongst the noise. The noise and data can be overwhelming, but I still enjoy sifting through it for the occasional nugget. It becomes easier once you find trustworthy sources, and for that, I thank God for the internet, because we darn sure are not getting many nuggets from MSM. Lots of noise there though.
dick: Reminds me of a story I read, or saw on TV, about “discovery”. As I understand it, that’s when the Prosecutor, or Plaintiff’s lawyer, has to turn over documents to the other side. One way of cheating is to withhold information. Another way is to bury them in paper, with the nugget somewhere in the warehouse-full.
