From zero to harpy in no seconds flat.
Must add that to my repertoire.
See, that’s what I like about BMEWS, I had to learn how to spell repertoire.
Good stuff. Thanks for the link.
The harpy really was quite clueless.
Women are generally smaller and weaker than men. Therefore men must take the lead in defense of the family and hunting. Part of the culture of being a man is to experience and “prove” that we, as men, posses the requisite integrity and courage to do the job assigned to us. These are attributes of being a man. This doesn’t mean that a woman can’t do these things, many women have. It only recognizes that thousands of years of cultural and natural selection have decided that men, in general, must be the bigger, tougher, more aggressive in their dealings with the world.
We can speak only in generalities here. When dealing with human beings, we can’t speak in absolutes. There are just too many variations in the nature of individual people, too many things that each of us might do under particular circumstances that differ from our usual nature. Defining ourselves by the exceptions can lead to a serious distortion of society’s functioning, especially when combined with a harpy’s basic sense of inferiority.
When we consider the attributes of men and women, we must remember that they are general attributes, not limitations.
