Drew, maybe you are in the wrong country, or have the wrong president, you know that being able to repay your loan automatically disqualifies you from getting one, unless you can put down 2 unicorn horns with the downpayment! seriously, this is precisely what went wrong in the UK and USA with house loans, iffy borrower, this way sir, good borrower, who are you?. It also proves the lenders are too thick to learn, If I ran a bank I would have given special treatment to a good customer, even foreclosed on a few looser/chancer types to get liquidity, but sadly I have to work for a living. The very best of luck to you both. Any chance the seller could carry your mortgage for a while?

Sorry you’re having such a bad experience with the lender. I suspect they’re giving you the gears because they’re in a bad credit crunch internally, and don’t want to admit it.

Honest, solvent, responsible white folks need not apply? Yeah, that hurts. Especially when applying for a mortgage from other white folks.
Drew, can only agree with others. What a bummer. Jeesh Nothing has really changed except that things got harder after the latest financial meltdown. Harder for folks like us that is. And here I thought things in UK pretty bad.
You need to apply for refugee status. OR Apply as a minority, since you are a white, working, taxpaying male. One of those should do it.
Yeah it sucks - We got hammered on our loan - simply because we were honest (hubby had a great income, but we told them we were retiring) - I am keeping the faith that God will provide for us to carry this loan and in the eternal - We Will Get Our Reward.
Also - if it weren’t for my first son being born - My first hubby & I wouldn’t have gotten credit. A hefty bank account, two paid for cars - and no one gave a damn. But owing a hospital a measly $1200.00 - boy suddenly we became important.
I agree that right now - if you aren’t white - you will get it faster, sooner, better - and isn’t that against the American Way?
BTW, slightly off topic - but do you remember the Kelo decision (that the Supreme Court ruled that ‘blight’ was a reason for imminent domain)? Well they tore down those homes that they so gleefully ignored the Constitution for - and the land is now truly a blight to the area and guess what? The Company behind the whole deal - is going under - so there will be no condos, shopping mall or whatever the hell Kelo was based on! Way to go Supreme Court - hope that those bribes were worth it.
And in other news the DC sniper met his God last night. Talk about the World tilting wrong and then right - all in one day.
