  3. Had a female friend once who decided to join the military; her father was an Air Force Reserve loadmaster. She tested well in mechanical aptitude, and went to the presentations of all the services, but was leaning Air Force. Until they came to a shot about being a line mechanic. The shot was from Minot, in the dead of winter showing some guy pulling a rolling tool chest onto the flight line with snow piled up 15 feet deep behind him. My friend is only 5’1”! That did in that particular idea!

  4. Hehehehehe. It looks like LURK snarked you all today!

That is Mountain Home AFB, 50 miles southeast of beautiful downtown Boise, Idaho. It don’t get no closer to nowhere than that.

Once again Lurk walks off with the Golden Compass Trophy!

    clap  clap  LOL  LOL

  5. You can always tell an old SAC base by the Alert Pad at the end of the runway.

  6. BINGO! BobF scores two extra points for knowing his “Christmas Trees”. You can always tell an old SAC-Hound. With fifteen minutes notice those birds had to be airborne and headed for Moscow. No if’s, and’s or but’s. Curt LeMay carved it in stone.

    LOL

  9. Skipper, if those planes ever did launch, we knew one thing...we were dead men walking.  Soviet ICBM’s would be raining down on us at any minute.  Nothing would get your heart to pumping than to have an “Elephant Walk” and have those BUFF’s take the active and go into water for a few seconds before throttling back.  B-52G’s used water injection to augment their thrust.  This picture was taken at Wurtsmith AFB, MI.  The back smoke is actually steam produced by water injection.
