  1. If he has what I think he has, it doesn’t have an SD card.. he’ll be lucky if it has a USB attachment.
Drew, if it does have a USB plug, all you should have to do is plug it in and use it like a disk drive. If it doesn’t, then you are probably hosed…

  2. I installed a 2nd generation USB port card on this machine years ago. The socket on the phone is not USB. It’s a flatter connector, like HDMI but only 3/16” wide.

And no, neither the computer nor the printer has a card reader. So yeah, I’m hosed.

And I need a cell phone for my business. Maybe I’ll look into some quality pocket camera. The nice little 4Mp Power Shot camera I have is dead. Bad CCD I think; they’re not worth the expense of getting repaired. I’ve got 20lbs of quality 35mm camera gear rotting in the closet. Film is dead unless you’re a bona-fide professional.

  3. Yeah Drew, film is basically dead.. even a lot of pros no longer use film.. Look on eBay for a decent camera.. all you probably need is something 5 megapixels or higher. I have a 5MP Kodak which does the job quite nicely and cost $75 new. Make sure that is supports an SD card and has a USB port or a connection cable, preferably USB. A 1GB SD card should be plenty. I can get 1100 pics on mine at the highest quality, or 4000+ at medium.
It is as small as a pack of cigs and weighs a little more, and is fully automatic if you want with the ability to take video. It also has a feature I like, since I am rough on my electronics, an automatic lens cap. All in all, even if you don’t buy one of these little jewels, those are the specs you should look for. Usually inexpensive, and generally rugged.

  4. Why not? If you use PayPal, the purchase is protected, if you know how to read the seller ratings, you can get an excellent idea of the seller’s reputation (never buy from someone with less that 1000 ratings at better than 99%) and know where you are buying from (never China) and you are fine. I have made 30+ purchases with no problems ever.

The only problem with eBay is the people who get scammed.. satisfied customers rarely gripe.

  5. Camera phones suck.  Haven’t had or seen one yet that was worth paying for.  But...the fact is that the majority of phones come with a camera...so the teenagers can take a picture and send it to their buddies.

I have one of the Rumor 2 phones.  I hate the damn thing, but it works.  It allows me to connect to my email server so I can get and send email and access/edit my calendar.  That has made my home business so much easier to manage.  I don’t have to be sitting at my computer or find a wi-fi hotspot to schedule an appointment.  The only issue is that my contacts don’t share between the phone and the server.  Oh well...can’t have everything I guess.
