Drew those bulbs are quite good I bought some for my last car from here…
The high output bulbs often wont last as long as standard bulbs but they do give you a better view at night which I think is a fair trade off. I have the HID lights on my current car which are supposed to be the cat’s ass but to be honest I am not that impressed.
Did you know that Osram and Slyvania are the same company? Aside from mounting style (H6, H7, H11 etc) I think your Nightbreakers are the same bulbs are my SilverStars. Although Euro-spec high beams might be 5w brighter? Pretty sure US cars can’t have more than 65W high beams and 55W low (dipped) beams, but not sure of rules for min-max lumens.
drew458,
I get the same results by cleaning my glasses.
I sell auto parts for a living and the Silver Stars are some of the best aftermarket bulbs you can get. I’ve got them on both of my cars and my wife’s Explorer and I they’re great.
But
The online reviews that said they don’t last as long are correct. My son who does a lot of night driving was going through about 2 sets per year. I had an upset customer who called Sylvania because of bulbs were burning out after about 7 months and was told they were designed to last only about one (1) year of normal night driving. Their own website tells you to replace them after one year. It’s all going to depend upon the amount of night driving you do. I haven’t had to replace any in my cars yet but I have in my wife’s Explorer.
Also, headlights don’t dim after time. That’s a marketing hype to get people to replace their bulbs. Bulbs burn their brightest just before they burn out.
With the new cars having their headlights on for safety plus night driving they will have an even shorter lifespan.
