  1. Me too, Skipper. I have loved cartoons since before I could read the words in the bubbles. And I faithfully watched the ones on TV and the cartoon before the movie.  At the VonLee ("Art") Theater in Bloomington IN they always had a cartoon before every movie—including “Oedipus Rex”! You must respect an establishment like that! Once, at college, Ruth came home happy & laughing, not at the pretentious “Film” but at the audience’s rousing enjoyment of Yosemite Sam’s “DRAGONS IS SOOOO STOOPID!”

So many, even in the Golden Age, (how-you-say?) Sucked.  Hanna-Barbera eats excrement, but other poorly-drawn ones are great—Rocky & Bullwinkle e.g. My sons & I had a firm committment to the Saturday Bugs Bunny Show. As Andrew got older, I loved the way he groaned when he finally got the frequent adult in-jokes. For example, one of the Knights of The Round Table was “Sir Osis of Liver”.

Donald Duck comics and author Carl Barks shall live forever!

  2. Thank you for sharing that with us OCM!  crazy weed

So is that buzzard-bolus “Power Rangers”—which my Grandson just loves! (over and over and..) For you who are lucky enough to be unfamiliar with this non-cartoon P.O.S., look under Wikipedia, ”Crimes Against Humanity”.

  3. Speaking for the absent Walt, pig sez, “I rest my case. These people are cartoons. Hilarious in spite of themselves.”

  4. I just shake my head...thinking that this is getting utterly ridiculous, and the world is going INSANE. crazy

  5. I bet poor Walt is spinning in his grave....The *Disney* since Walt departed has ever increasingly become a parody in and of itself. long face

  6. Somehow this doesn’t supprise me...the ChiComs don’t allow depictions of human skeletons, either.

And I bet the ChiComs have no problem whatsoever with Western (Japan included in this, apparently) animators using Chinese labor to do the actual work. China is becoming the Korea when it comes to animation.

  7. I’m old enough to remember when “MADE IN JAPAN” meant ‘cheap and flimsy’. Then that market shifted to South Korea, hence to China.  Notice that the first two countries improved their products and total wealth along the way—after starting out at the bottom. Also note the present status of the Palestinians.

  8. First the Japs planned the factory for a U.S. area resembling the Fukuoka-Yokahama area. Somehow that got mis-translated into “Fuku-Yo-Mama!” THEN, they discovered us’n Kentuckians were Cheap Labor and how we could live on a handful of cornbread a day.
