  2. While the U.S. collectively holds it’s breath to see what the outcome will be....

Except the Hildabest, who will continue to snarl like the snout faced female she is
(sorry Oink!! truly....she just reminded me seriously of a snout nosed animal when i saw her on the news last)

if i hear her( the snout nosed beast- as in Hildabeast) say one more time * if 9/11 was a failure of imagination, and hurricane katrina was a failure of inititive, then the port deal is a failure of good judgement* just watching her face while she says it makes me want to yak. barf

  3. Now I’m in favor of the deal.  If nearly every politician in America says it’s bad, then it MUST be good!

  4. Lets go ahead with that delay - for about 100 years…

  5. I’m gonna file this one under the “good things” label.

I rather seriously doubt that Dubai Ports World (DPW) has any ulterior motives.  They’re in this for money, and they stand to gain a lot of it by conducting legitimate business.  Likewise, if they’re implicated in a terrorist plot, they stand to lose even more money from US ports, especially if their assets are frozen as a result.  ObL cannot offer them enough money to make a DPW terrorist cooperation worthwhile.
I am additionally heartened by the fact that DPW has voluntarily stepped forward and offered to delay the actual takeover of management.  That speaks well for them.

That doesn’t mean I like the deal, even if it’s on the up-and-up.  I see too much possibility of a Wahabbist or jihaadist infiltrating the company and sabotaging this all.  While this possibility is not enough to kill the deal (after all, terrorists aren’t just from Arabia, nor do they all wear turbans), it IS enough to demand a close scrutiny of the deal.  “Trust, but verify,” and take steps to ensure that the trust is not broken, from either side.

All in all, I’m a lot happier that this was delayed (NOT killed), and that the one who has delayed it is DPW themselves, not a Congressional action.

  6. With apologies to the Skipper after his well laid out explanation about why it’s a reasonable deal, I just can’t feel comfortable with an Islamic country taking a major role with 6 of our ports.  Those guys do more business out their back door than they do out the front door.

Ever since I got to know the first Moslem Arab to attend my high school, I’ve had a great deal of trouble considering any Moslem trustworthy.  Recent years haven’t improved my opinion of Moslems in general.  Anytime that I start to believe that some Moslems are sane, decent and reasonable, all I have to do is visit CAIR’s web site.

  7. DP World is in it for the money, anything happens at a terminal that they manage, well, then they would probably lose close to all of their overseas business, except in the UAE.

The UAE is expanding their resources, because someday the oil is going to run our, and they are thinking ahead, you think that they are going to blow that future by allowing terrorists to use their company to strike a terminal or port that they manage?

    Get a grip reality here.

Yes, DP world put a hold on the US terminals, but that still leaves them a majority of the world terminals that P&O managed, so they don’t lose much, but we lose a lot in the process, and that’s what makes this whole political firestorm a lot of nonsense, and political maneuvering.

This has NOTHING to do with National Security, or the security of the ports, or any of the other excuses the media is coming up with.

  8. OCM, I live in the real world, not the pot induced one that you live in.

It is a Global economy, and the UAE is our greatest Middle Eastern ally on the war on terror, and we just slapped them across the face.

    Good move, NOT…

In one fell swoop, the media and Democrats have managed 4 things.

1: Undermined the war on terror, by insulting a country that has proven we can trust it.

    2: Undermined the Bush administration

3: Undermined the war on Iraq, again, because of the insult to the UAE, and the fact that they allow us to stage troops there, land any aircraft we want, at any time there, and keep their ports in such a secure state that our ships will use those ports, but will NOT use any other ports in the Middle East.

and 4: have convinced the American people that they are somehow all big on National Security.

Yeah, that’s the ticket, this was a company merger, NOTHING more, the same managers, longshoreman and security measures would remain in place.

This is nothing more then political posturing by the left, and a rush for power.’

The Democrats found an opening, LIED, along with their media pals, and they’ve taken it, just like the scumbags and crooks they are.

  9. Ok, here is what bothers me most about the deal:

    The dems/libs/msm are against it.

Everyone waited since Nov to report it - why? You can’t tell me that anyone (WSJ, Forbes, etc, etc) did not know in Nov that this deal was gaining legs???? So why not then, why now??? The push for dems and being ‘pro’ National Security would have helped them more then, than now???? Why wait????

The racist/profiling aspect of this is just so overwhelming to me that I can’t even believe that a ‘good’ dem/lib would even hazard an iota of profiling this way.

This is a business deal, not security, not even shipping. UAE will just run the port. It was already in foreign (white) hands (oops, there’s that profiling again). So what is the big deal?? Also why is no one asking why there are no American companies that do this?? America has probably one of the largest ‘coastline/port’ areas in the world, seems to me that would be a lucrative business? So why no American countries in it????

All the one world, consult the UN, bring all our ‘friends’ on board, glowball, multi-culturalists, etc are against this??? What’s wrong with this picture???

In otherwords, that so many people who should be screaming loudest for this to happen, are against it - I have to support it - because the biggest and final lie will come out.

And the Bush Administration has not stooped to the level of it’s critics by also ‘insinuating’ all sorts of things that have eventually been proven to be crap. So once again, I’m for it.

Omg, now their even pulling the 9/11 card (after chastizing President Bush for mentioning it in the SOTU address and on the campaign trail). Now I know that I’m for it.

    Hypocrites All.

  10. Sorry, it should be - why no American companies in it????

I fail to see that President Bush would suddenly do anything so possibly against National Security when he has been so strong on it for so long.

And since his oppostition has been all over the map on EVERY issue and so weak and flimsy on National Security, I don’t trust them to have finally ‘seen the light’. Since they have tried every avenue possible to bring down this Administration and have FAILED, I don’t see this one being successful either.  The truth will come out as to their motive or the big lie that is behind this, it always does.

I still stick by my final statement - hypocrites all.

  11. That’s BS OCM, you Socialist Creep (SC) finger  In today’s crazy mixed up world the only ones you can trust are the salesmen and President Bush.  When I took the “Bush Oath” I swore I would never take any money from anybody.  That’s pretty hard to swallow when you are a salesman with 3 children, ages 13 to 17, and the oldest one is a daughter who wants everything.  Plus, I am married to a women who thinks she has to buy things too.  But, to this very day I can say, “I have never made a penny on an HSA.” Or MSA either.  Now that the kids are grown and out of college, the girl took a long time because of all of her travels, it’s getting easier.  Thank goodness the youngest son couldn’t stand educators, he is 22 now, and his mind wasn’t filled with the Liberal university mush, so he is closing on his new home on Tuesday in beautiful Tampa Bay.  He says, “I will make more money owning this house than those two (his brother and sister) will make working for a living with their degrees.  I don’t know why they can’t see that.” Because the youngest boy was never brainwashed by university educators, I can trust him.  That’s pretty nice.

My neighbor, 2 doors down, is a retired salesman at 43 years of age.  He is a multi-millionaire.  He bought his house for $300,000, 2 years ago, and sold it Friday for $470,000.  Joe’s house wasn’t even for sale.  He says I’m crazy working for nothing.  Joe says the salesmen are suppose to be the highest paid people in the company.  Joe says we are the reason everybody else gets paid.  I call them Corporate Creeps (CC).  Joe says what difference does it make that President Bush has made the tax free HSA the Centerpiece of his 2006 Domestic Agenda and you will be able to enroll millions of people into America’s greatest “Tax Dodge” if you never make even one penny? question

Joe says enrolling people into tax free HSAs and never getting paid is “Salesman Discrimination.”

Speaking of Ports:  TORA TORA TORA

On Sunday, December 7th, 1941 the Japanese launched a surprise attack against the U.S. Forces stationed at Pearl Harbor , Hawaii. By planning his attack on a Sunday, the Japanese commander Admiral Nagumo, hoped to catch the entire fleet in port. As luck would have it, the Aircraft Carriers and one of the Battleships were not in port. (The USS Enterprise was returning from Wake Island, where it had just delivered some aircraft. The USS Lexington was ferrying aircraft to Midway, and the USS Saratoga and USS Colorado were undergoing repairs in the United State s.)
In spite of the latest intelligence reports about the missing aircraft carriers (his most important targets), Admiral Nagumo decided to continue the attack with his force of six carriers and 423 aircraft. At a range of 230 miles north of Oahu, he launched the first wave! of a two-wave attack. Beginning at 0600 hours his first wave consisted of 183 fighters and torpedo bombers which struck at the fleet in Pearl Harbor and the airfields in Hickam, Kaneohe and Ewa. The second strike, launched at 0715 hours, consisted of 167 aircraft, which again struck at the same targets.
At 0753 hours the first wave consisting of 40 Nakajima B5N2 “Kate” torpedo bombers, 51 Aichi D3A1 “Val” dive bombers, 50 high altitude bombers and 43 Zeros struck airfields and Pearl Harbor . Within the next hour, the second wave arrived and continued the attack.
