  1. Didn’t there used to be great blocks of granite up and down the English coast, put there for this very reason? And then some halfwit Greenie got them removed?

Duh, the country is made out of CHALK for heaven’s sake. OF COURSE it’s going to erode. A second grader has that level of scientific knowledge, you don’t need some idiot study.

Put the granite back! Save the island!

  2. Drew the granite tends to be located in the West Country and in Scotland. Much of the South East is as you say chalk but in most places the beach is some way from the cliffs. Where there is no beach the government has in the past built concrete barriers and a system of groynes to retain the beaches. You can see one in the photo where the promenade ends the erosion begins. However in this part of England it is mostly clay so it tends to wash away easily. The other big problem for the East of England where this chap lives is that it is sinking slowly into the sea. The government of course don’t want to spend the money to build sea defences. The elephant in the room is once again the EU oh and Natural England are worth looking into. Yet another Quango. The Chief Exec is paid £145,000 a year most of their other bigwigs are on £100k a year of public money. They also get performance related pay. Based on what? How many people like Mr. Boggis they can shaft I expect. Oh and the bit I like best?

Natural England is recognised by Her Majesty’s
Revenue and Customs as a charity for the purpose
of Section 505, Income and Corporation Taxes Act
1988. Natural England is a body corporate and
is liable to Corporation Tax on any investment
    income and trading profits.

So yet another fucking fake charity. Every time I read shit like this I pat myself on the back for getting out of Britain. I would like to think when the scoundrels currently in government are fianlly hounded out of office that the incoming adminsitration will llight a fire under these bastrds. But I wont hold my breath.

  3. Apologies for the typos. My excuse is my fury at this bullshit caused a bout of temporary insanity!

  4. Tyops? Who cares?

I found Natural England when I Googled up those rock barriers. I knew they were there somewhere. They seem to be a rather shortsighted bunch.

Looks like this appeal only took 11 months to come to court!

  5. Let the man defend his land against the sea, I say.  It’s DIRT.  Pile it high, pile it proud, and shake your fist at the elements and the nay-sayers.  Just do it, and defy them all.  You may lose the war after you’re dead, but win it while you’re alive, good sir.
