HELL WEEK IS ALSO PULLING YOUR OWN TEETH

 

I know that dentists are unloading their NHS patients, even those who have been on their books for years. But it isn’t fully the fault of the dentist. They are given so much in funds and it’s quickly used. I can give a more complete explanation if needed but ...
This woman could have gone private as many have had to do.  She could have arranged payments if necessary. Still tho, can not have been pleasant for her.
Be interesting to see if there’s any followup in next weeks paper. 

1. I like how, now that she’s pulled her own teeth, somebody can help her get on a waiting list to see a dentist.

   Socialized medicine ... that’s the way to go alright!

3. I was about to point out the Honour of being Queued for Dental Service, but Drew beat me to it.
   At 76 tears old, this lady could be dead before she gets and appointment, much less ends up in a chair because she can’t get into a bed at hospital, or catches any of the 1000 maladies that the National Health Service classify as “low risk”.
   
   Just feeling morbid.

5. As Peiper says it is a complicated story. When I was a child all dental work was “free” but for the past twenty years or more at an accelerating pace the costs have gone up and up. Then the dentists decided there was more to be made in private work so they stopped accepting NHS patients.

   I used to argue with my former employers about the pros and cons of social medicine (they were Americans). In those days I was pro. Now I am not so sure. I think if we were all decent honest people it might work. The reality though is rather different. I saw on tv this morning an interview with an NHS doctor who happened to mention a patient visiting her surgery with a cold. Now someone wasting public money like that should be horsewhipped in my book. Socialism is wrecking England.
