3. "Video killed the radio star” sang the lyrics years ago. And it’s true. These days you have to be pretty first, talented second, to succeed in the music business or in show business. Sometimes pretty is all that matters; we wouldn’t have the shattered glass and tortured kittens sound of Pretty Reckless if lead singer Taylor Momsen wasn’t a leggy blonde with a nice figure and a penchant for flashing her underage bits while wearing freaky outfits.

4. That being said, I think it’s pretty stupid to try to train police to always avoid making judgments based on first appearances. There is a certain thug look, the “I just got out of jail” face, that allows most of us to spot the hard cases right off. Call it profiling, but it’s true. Hard living in a low rent world gives you a similar look, but actual evil shines through a lot of the time.
