  1. The story, as is often the case of just plain poor reporting, does not make clear what the resident(s) were upset about - that their homes were destroyed, that they were told to leave at dusk, or what?

Nonetheless, an aid worker interviewed here in PNW told of being set upon by angry refugees, uh, I mean evacuees, who had used up all their entitled benefits. One typical story, according to this fellow, was a woman who plopped down at his desk and angrily announced that she was there to “get her benefits.” The fellow went point by point, “Have you received A?” “Yes.” “Have you received B?” “Yes.” Point by point of a pretty generous largess we simply give these folks. She had used up every one of them. When he pionted out that she was not eligible for anything more and that she had to find other means, the merde hit the fan. She railed at him that “You owe me,” and the “I am entitled to benefits,” and the best one “After all, it’s YOUR fault the levees broke!”

The race pimps and vile hate mongers like Calyso Louie and Jesse “I’ll overlook that guy’s ‘injustice’ if you pay ME some money” Jackson and the like do not speak into a vacuum. The lies they spew do find fertile soil in which to grow in the minds of the “gimme my benefits” class of society.

    soapbox

  2. First of all, any threats against FEMA or the Corps of Engineers are nebulous at best.  During the immediate aftermath of Katrina there were reports of rescue helicopters taking small arms fire, but those events have never been substantiated.  What was substantiated by the use of home video cameras was:

    Local police looting stores

Forced evacuation of law abiding citizens at gun point

The invasion of private homes by thugs in uniforms

The unconstitutional disarming of law abiding citizens in their own homes

Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans, Louisiana on Monday, August 29th, 2005.  On Saturday, December 3rd, 2005 property owners were allowed to return briefly to their homes to see if they could retrieve anything of value.  That’s over three months that the US Government kept law abiding, patriotic citizens, whose only crime was to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, away from their property.  Property they own and pay tax on.

I can only guess at the mess FEMA is making of this entire tragedy.  When was the last time you tried to obtain any governmental assistance for anything?  I changed States recently and had to get a new set of plates for a car purchased out of my current State of residence.  It took thirty days and the help of an expert in bureaucracy to finally obtain license plates.  I can’t imagine what it will take to get anything from FEMA, including benign disregard.

It’s little wonder that residents curse FEMA and the Corps of Engineers.  I’m convinced that FEMA workers aren’t trying to help.  They’re trying to stay employed and create even more impenetrable layers of bureaucracy.  As for the rest of the government, they’re a pretty worthless bunch.  They’re the group that failed to build and maintain a levy strong enough to prevent this disaster in the first place, and now they’re here and they want to help?

    Bull.

  3. Mad Jack: You echo the sentiments of one of the best Presidents this country ever had. Ronald Reagan said (and I quote), “My fellow Americans, the scariest words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help’”. No truer words were ever spoken. The more we depend on ourselves and not on government, the better off we will be.

BTW, the reports of shootings at rescue shoppers have been substantiated. I have seen pictures of bullet holes and ricochet marks on choppers used in the NOLA rescue effort. They were shown on FOX and CNN a week or two after the disaster.

  4. Hi, Friends, I just returned from a weekend mini-vacation with my wife, celebrating 36 years of marriage.  On the topic of disasters, I was driving in Southern Indiana when we suddenly crossed the path of the 11-6-05 tornado that killed 26 people. I uttered an oath I seldom use --"Jesus Christ!”. Nearly a month later, it is hideous. Horrible torn-to-shreds trees, see-thru houses. I cannot describe it. You can read it and see it on TV, but seeing it in person!!! I got tears in my eyes, imagining what it must have been for those people.

A simple example of Brotherhood—down the road a mile was a petfood store with a sign, “FREE DOG AND CATFOOD TO TORNADO VICTIMS”. downer

  5. Skipper:  Thanks.  I stand corrected.  Mind you, the only reason I’ll accept evidence from MSM is that none of them know how to handle a rifle.  Otherwise I’d say the evidence was probably planted.
