  1. Allan - So sorry you haven’t heard from your sons yet on this Father’s Day - but, hey, the day ain’t over yet - so don’t give up!.............My son & I had his daughter, Helena (aged 3), this weekend by “special arrangement”.........This is not his weekend to have Helena but I called his ex weeks ago & set it up so we could have her for Father’s Day weekend..........Helena & I took her Daddy to Circus Flora - this is a one ring circus based in St. L. - it is a traveling circus & spends the month of June at home in St.L. down on Grand Ave. behind Powell Hall.......We had a good time.......
My other son came in from Norfolk to spend some time with his father & his new family......He & I will get together this week - he is staying with his Dad which is fine as my work schedule is not conducive for him to stay with me..........
I am so looking forward to lunch with you & Barb on Tuesday!!

  2. Finally, my two sons have called but my daughter hasn’t yet, and she won’t.

My boys are younger than yours Skipper.  We spent enough on Transformers to buy Miami.

  3. My son left today after spending a week here having a great time.  He and his buddy are headed for Lauderdale to live for a while.  As they were pulling out, I noticed they’d left me with a four-foot black racer in a terrarium.  I started hollering and stood in front of their vehicles and wouldn’t let them leave until they got rid of the snake.  They decided to take the snake to Florida with them and put it in the back of the truck.  That is going to be one traumatized snake.

As for toys - do five million Beanie Babies count?  Not for my son!  He was into the Transformers, too.  And Hot Wheels.

  4. My daughter called this morning and my hideous stepsons even got me an appropriate CD.  They also got me a card with a fat guy holding a big fish, but that’s to be expected from assholes.  Spend their inheritence down to the last nickel.

  5. 9pm- Alan- have you heard from your sons??
I called my Dad a couple of hours ago......I sent him a couple of DVD’s - What else can you send to a man of 89 who is disabled?  He said he enjoyed getting them - however, he doesn’t know how to work the DVD player.......He said he will have his son-in-law with whom he lives set the DVD player so that he can watch the movies............I also sent some new pics of his great grand daughter - I know he enjoy s getting the pics of Helena - he said he always enjoys the pics of his great grand daughter whom he has never met.........I don’t know if he will ever meet her- he’s in Maine & we are here in St. Louis.........I feel so sad that our family is so spread out ...........Helena has no clue about about a great grandfather who regularly sends gifts to her..............

  6. Sons with guns. What could be better?

Ah, Transformers. I recall one Christmas season I wore a path between my home and the not so nearby Children’s Palace and Toys R Us trying to get one, any one, of those damn things. Sometimes I went twice or three times a day until I finally caught them with one model. It made the G/F’s son happy, so I guess it was worth it.

It was easier than trying to make her happy, but that’s another story.

Glad you finally heard from the offspring, Skipper. At least it wasn’t a collect call. Did you know that Father’s day is the day with the highest volume of collect calls?

    Ain’t that a bitch?
