> somebody took a whip to these money changers. I can understand why.
*heh* Nicely put.
I got a check for a ‘refund’ of my tax in France (which at the time, was worthless against the dollar - a mere $200 got me 3 bottles of Joy, 2 ponies and a full magnum of Champagne) - anyway neither American Excuse nor a Deutsch bank would cash it - so it is a ‘collectable’ memory - much like the Belgium money - which their bank collapsed while we were visiting - so that money was/is and always will be worthless.
Traveling is such a gamble when ‘converting’ money - they always figure out a way to scr*w you in the end.
You were able to find soap/detergent for sale in France? Sacre bleu!!
Tee hee hee - Joy is (was?) supposedly one of the best perfumes at the time - I thought it sucked (I still have my bottle, and I still think it sucks) as per a friend at the time who loved Paris. At least her travel, words to know, and dining guidelines were spot on.
