An even better idea that I went to 2 years ago is Duracell rechargebles that to this day are still working awesome in all my cameras, peripherals and remote controls. Throwaways are really a Bad investment in comparison.

That’s open to debate Rich.
I looked at several of the battery forums, and found what everyone agreed was the best charger and the best rechargeable AA batteries a few years back. 2300mAh, long lasting, slow self-discharge rate. Bought 3 cycles worth - 1 in the camera, 1 charging, a spare set ready to go.
the damn things don’t last. After a few dozen charges it was a miracle they’d hold their charge for a week. WORSE, is that they don’t provide the necessary voltage. Instead of giving 1.5 volts they give 1.25 - 1.35 volts, >10% less. That makes a difference. Motors will run slower, electronic flashes will take longer to recharge, high intensity Cree LEDs won’t be as bright. There are now 1.6 volt rechargeable AAs for sale, the new NiZn batteries, that can deliver the full 1.5v, but they burn through fast - at only 1250 mAh they run down twice as fast as the regular long life kind of rechargeable AAs.
But when I can get regular alkaline AAs for under 14ยข each with a rebate - that’s a deal. No $35 charger needed. Use ‘em, drain ‘em, toss ‘em.
Believe what you want but I have a solid 2 years using these Duracells and not one of them has failed to hold a solid charge in any of the devices I use.
Now it is true that the chinese crap like you see on ebay for cheap are not worthy of use,I tried a handfull and they barely function for any ,length of time.
