  3. I’m with ya buddy.

...refrain from pushing our lifestyle on them (no TV, no electricity, no sewers, etc.)

    That was good!

like all the other victims of “Americas’ influence” the folks that need the most help, never see it. Corruption eats away at the food, money and medical help.

Their “New” government will keep telling these poor folks that America is the evil empire. Outdated ideas of superstition and magic will prevail unless the people can get the correct information about how the world really wants only good for them.

Wireless communication is slowly changing that. But what are these starving people supposed to believe when even their spiritual leaders tell them to rely on magic to cure HIV and starvation. With protectors like UN troops, how could anyone feel positive about the future of their children?

If We can help them with clean water, sewers, electricity, television and the internet, they just might be able to pull themselves out of the stone age.

  4. Vilmar, you’re on target!  The same policy should be followed as relates to most urban areas in the US:

Don’t “interfere with indigenous lifestyles (meaning they can continue to kill one another); take away all their guns so they use only bows, arrows, slings and clubs.”

No amount of liberal hand-wringing is going to change most of the people there(either in Africa or the US urban areas).

  5. 1.  Many Russians long for the return of communism.

    2. Europeans also had a period of difficult adjustment—for 1000+ years: The Dark Ages

  7. What is most incredible about the liberal hypocrisy is the following comment:

“The hungry children and the families dying of AIDS here are gut-wrenching, but somehow what I find even more depressing is this: Many, many ordinary black Zimbabweans wish that they could get back the white racist government that oppressed them in the 1970’s.”

It is more depressing to this moonbat to see people wish to be clothed and fed than it is to see people die under a repressive black regime. What an assh*le - and I am certain he sees no hypocrisy in that statement.

  9. The exchange of whips for scorpions!

Oh dear, do I detect a refreshing current of Victorianism here?

“While it’s Tommy this, and Tommy that,
    And ‘Tommy, go away’....”

May the distribution of the problems be more equitable this time....
    LOL

  10. I agree, all intervention would acheive is the uniting of the scum against the US (of course scum inclusive of the UN).

OCM, it is great to see your face back up, the other was a tad strange, but Oink’s continuously changing avatar is fun to watch. LOL

  11. Oink, my spousal unit worked in the Czech Republic for 2 years, through July 2004 - lotsa Czechs would like to see a return to Soviet-style life {and a LOT of those folks are too young to really remember life under Soviet rule.}
Kristof’s comment, “Our hypocrisy is costing hundreds of Zimbabwean lives every day.” befuddles me {granted, I’m blonde, so it ain’t to hard to befuddle me} - how the HELL are “we” the hypocrites in this scenario?  Seems to me we took’em at their collective word - they wanted “freedom” and we imposed sanctions, rattled sabers, etc., until the white ruling class pulled up stakes & left .................. just like illegal immigrants utilizing “coyotes” to come to this country, Zimbabweans are being exploited BY THEIR OWN PEOPLE - and ANY ‘aid’ we send will line the pockets of the powers that be ................ BTW, for those interested, you can order Something of Value by Robert Ruark, through Barnes & Noble stores ............... I ordered my copy yesterday - $45.00, but I want to see if my memories of the book, from 35+ years ago are correct - if so, there are a LOT of parallels today .............. will let y’all know, once I get it & re-read it ..............
