  1. I punched in my ex-wife’s number in Chicago and she’s in there. Stupid bitch.

  2. MY listing should include *
*Owner has 12 gauge & pistol—knows how to use them

On Reason magazine’s cover they had a map, supposedly showing your neighborhood.  “They Know Where You Are!” My issue showed some place 25 miles away. Another advantage of living out where Moses lost his sandals.

  3. I’m with OCM on this one.In this day and age this is scary.

  4. Our phone book listing, as well as some of the others that I checked, has only the town listed. So the google search also only shows the town geo-center, no address.
None of our cell numbers were listed at all.
I saw somewhere that cell numbers will soon be listed just like land lines are.

  5. I agree that blocking access is a great idea; I’m gonna check mine again in 3 months.  However, I know some folks who go to such lengths to protect their privacy that they make themselves conspicuous.  Sometimes the best anonimity is being in a school of fish.  I’m just not all that important to any powerful entity—as an individual.

Of course, Google could argue that with any listed number (address usually included) you could accomplish the same thing with a phonebook and a map.

  6. Of course you can always cover your attic with tin-foil and then Google can never find you.

    LOL LOL LOL

  8. My in-laws number came up.
Our number is unlisted but-it actually came up for a couple of BUSINESSES for the area!
My husband’s been using this number for about 8 years soooo…

  9. I guess that if your address is not in the phone book(s) all google gets is the name and number.
Or ...it could be all the foil lined foam panels in the attic.
(don’t forget the garage) LOL  LOL  LOL

  10. I typed in my phone number and it showed up just as listed in the phone book… under my alias.

So I’m not gonna bother blocking it. Anyone who calls asking for that alias is a known asshat.

I used to pay the extra fee for keeping my phone number ‘unlisted’. Then I found that I can list it under an alias for free!

  11. A woman I know has her office phone# listed with her real first name:  “Craig”.  Anyone who calls & refers to “he” or “him” is for sure a salesman.
