15mph speed limit to force people out of cars

I guess those houses won’t come with much of any property. I don’t want to live just 400 yards from the bus stop, nor only 800 yards from the stores. Close enough to hear, see, even smell them. Don’t you Brits move to the country to get peace and quiet? It’s what we do. Of course, suburbia keeps sneaking up every few years ...
Now this is the stuff that makes me keep coming back to this site!
This is Neo Fascist Class Warfare, aimed at Societal Destruction. Choose your tools to fight it. Editorials, pamphlets, letters to the editor, talking to friends and neighbors, do what you can to raise the issues and show the wrongness of what is happening. It can be hard to wake up sheep, but think of what will happen if you don’t.
I’m not saying anything here I haven’t said before. I’m not saying anything others here haven’t said, save that I like to use the terms “Neo Fascist” and “Class Warfare”. Those sort of terms may be more associated with the extreme left, but can anyone suggest words that more accurately describe the situation we are faced with?
No surprises here, except that it is so transparently stupid an idea if put in the context of what they *claim* to be trying to achieve.
Think about it.... 15 MPH speed limits. Yes, things may be designed to get more people out of their cars. Fine. So what happens to those who are still driving? They spend 3-4 times as much time in their car getting anywhere, that’s what. In addition, I have had more than one mechanic tell me that most cars are actually engineered to run their best at highway speeds, and that continued use at low speeds with no high speed runs dirties the engine over time. Carbon buildup around valve seats and such. I can’t claim to KNOW, I’m not a mechanic, but such is what I’ve heard.
So.... unless total traffic is cut by more than half, possibly by more than 3/4, the net result on pollution is to either make it worse or not change it at all. Meanwhile the cars’ engines get dirtier, making them pollute more *anywhere* they are driven, making more work and/or cleaning to be done in order for them to pass any sort of emissions testing, making overall performance degrade.
Sheesh, when it comes to fighting pollution and Saving the Planet(tm), these guys are trying for the Al Gore Sincerity Award, aren’t they? It’ll take a lot of cars to equal the carbon footprint of a Gulfstream V, though.
Peiper the reason they need to build so many houses is because they surrendered the controls of our borders. It started about 1996 when initially the Kosovans followed “Roma” or gypsies from Eastern Europe cottoned on to the idea that you could circumvent British immigration controls by claiming “asylum.”
Up until that point the only people who were asylum seekers were genuine ex commies who had escaped the system. The government caved into the shysters and took away the power of immigration officers at the ports to refuse entry to people who they considered were not genuine asylum claimants. That opened the floodgates and hundreds of thousands of deadbeats from all over Eastern Europe and the Third World flooded in.
As you know we have socialists in power and the way the laws are here if you are destitute it is down to the local authority to make provision for housing etc. There were so many cases the government just lost the plot and rubber stamped their claims. Oh and they gave them British passports as well. Then the second factor was countries like Poland, Lithuania and now Bulgaria and Romania joined the EU so British immigration has to treat them the same as British people. It is almost impossible for a British immigration officer to refuse entry to a “European”
Now we get bus loads of gypsies from Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria etc. every day and because of our lunatic socialist policies they can come here and claim welfare. Which also means they need houses. Britain is a small place. Total land mass is probably on a par with the State of Iowa. We have one of the highest population densities in the world and these bastards want to keep on building more.
The 15mph speed limit is BS in my view. Public transport is a deeply unpleasant experience in Britain. Most people would still use their car and at 15mph the pollution would be worse. BTW they have added new taxes to cars meaning I will have to find another $200 a year to run my car. Some people will have to pay an additional $2000 on a new car. Yet inflation is only 2.5% ho, ho, ho!
John Prescott....don’t get me started on that fat f**k. He is your typical champagne socialist. Also known as “two Jags” on account of him owning two Jaguars. He used to be a steward on cruise ships. The Conservatives poked fun at the fat surly oaf when he came into Parliament by shouting out “Make mine a gin and tonic”
As far banning plastic bags. Well gesture politics really, though I do object to the mountains of polythene we seem to be leaving as our legacy. I can’t understand why we don’t do as the Americans do and put groceries in paper bags or “sacks” as you chaps call them (much to my amusement)
