  1. Back in the 70’s when I was a student at Michigan State, this one:

    was parked on a siding on the campus. I used to walk past it on the daily trek from the dorm to the engineering building. The MSU railroad club claimed they were restoring it, but it never looked like they were making much progress. Good to see it’s running now over in Owosso at the Steam Railroading Institute.

    Love the sounds of those things. Been a long time since rail travel for me.
    Al Collins when at KFI, LA and who was a big train fan, use to play short tracks of train sounds.  There were a couple of LPs out at the time too.

    Some yrs ago, had a replica of some train, green and gold trim, it was actually a telephone. No doubt you’re familiar with it. When someone called your number, instead of a ring it let loose with the whistle and the chug,chug. Was pretty loud too. Wish I still had it.
