Winning: The Only Thing

 

1. Our main problem over there is that we are in Police mode instead of Soldier mode. It is impossible to tell who our enemy is because we haven't picked a side in the civil war yet. If you don't know who the enemy is, you can't fight or win a war. I think a three way partition of the country is the way to go at this point. I would then disengage our troops and reposition on the Iraqi borders and oilfields and see who wins the civil war.

2. Either that or move our troops into the Kurdish area, help train up the Peshmerga troops of Kurdistan and the rest on the borders with Iran and Syria and then swoop down and really, truly shock and awe whomever is left standing in Iraq.

   Let the Kurds run the oil wells and the country - teach the Shia and Sunni that the punishment for infighting is losing the ‘majority’ rule or even a real voice in the future of their stupid country.

   Seat of civilization my ass, this is the seat of centuries of hostile violence against their fellow man/woman/child and civilization itself. Stop it while we’ve got the troops there to do it.

   Life in general is not fair. Trying to make it fair just makes everyone equally miserable. That goes double in war.

4. Sadly, I believe that the “surge” will just be another lost opportunity in Iraq unless the JAG lawyers finally shut up and let us win.  But I haven’t heard anything about that lately.

5. The Donks don’t want us to win.  They only want out of Iraq and into the White House.  The donks are always happier when the US fails.
