  1. You know, if we want to blame someone for the repeated deployments of today’s military - let’s go lay it right where it belongs - to whimp Clinton who slashed the military (what was if from 10 to 7 Divisions?).

Actually, I even wonder if this whole GWOT would be what it is, if Clinton had done something other than run the country by polls and his life by his crotch.

  2. The 82nd Airborne

That’s a lot of serious guys going to do a lot of serious business.
May G-d bring them home safely to their loved ones and families when their work is done.
May G-d have mercy on their enemies, ‘cause no one else will.

  3. The cutbacks started with Bush 41.  The collapse of the “Evil Empire” had all of the “usual suspects” demanding a peace dividend.  The Clintons treated their White House military aides like household ni**ers.  The Donks have no respect for the military that keeps themfree.

The Donks and the RINOs forgot what the Roman historian Tacitus said.  “If you would have peace, prepare for war.”

Truth is never out of fashion.

Love the picture.  Hope the rest of us are worthy of their sacrifices.

  4. If anybody wants to know why the Armed Forces, especially Army, is in deep shit personnel and equipment wise, here is the reason.

Clinton’s most significant failings as President concerned less publicized but far more ominous matters of national security. Clinton’s loathing of the American military led to his failure in his primary responsibility: the protection of the American people. His actions with regard to military preparedness speak for themselves. In less than three years, deployments increased while manpower decreased from 2.1 million to 1.6 million. That decrease was the foundation upon which stood Al Gore’s purported “reinvention” of government. Of the 305,000 employees removed from the federal payroll, 286,000 (or 90%) were military cuts.

The statistics for America’s defense during the Clinton years reveal the deep-seated animosity of the administration toward those who served in the military. The Army was cut from 18 divisions to 12. The Navy was reduced from 546 ships to 380. Air Force flight squadrons were cut from 76 to 50.

While the U.S. military was used as a ‘meals on wheels’ service by the Clinton administration in its nation building adventures, the military had its own humanitarian crises at home on its own bases. The pay freeze instituted by Clinton was imposed on a military in which 80 percent of all troops earned $30,000 per year or less. Food stamp applications soared and re-enlistment rates dropped.

Here’s some more on the subject from the Air Force Association back in 1995.

  5. BobF’s right on target.  We’ve still got troops in Bosnia over 10 years after the mission was to be complete!

  6. Maj Mike, Bosnia was another Clinton screw-up, big time screw-up.  We bombed the people that during WWII risked their lives to rescue downed American Pilots and return them to allied lines.  The people we helped, the Muslims, would capture our downed pilots and turn them over to the Nazi’s.

  7. Re BobF: You know why soldiers were hanging armour plate on their Hummers? Because Slick Willie and his crew axed the program for a decent armoured car.  mad
