  1. The irony that these “anarchists” never seem to get is that it is only law and government that is protecting them. They are a very loud, brutish, and radical minority. If government were replaced by anarchy, most of them would be the first to get removed from the gene pool by those who suddenly didn’t have to worry about going to prison for doing it.

  2. President Obama is there, send him out to talk to them.  I’m sure his presence and oratory skills will calm them all, and allow them to see reason and prudence.

  3. Soap dodgers and job dodgers, the usual suspects. I ahd to laugh though as the city boys were waving ten pound notes at them! Actually considering how much attention the deadbeats have given this it was suprisingly low key. I suspect at last people are waking up to the reality that socialism is a busted flush.

  4. Interesting.  Theoretically, these guys are doing a violent version of our own protests about corporate and government mismanagement.  Guess which will get better results?

That said, what is their motive?  Party time?  Forty years ago, that’s exactly what many of the “anti war” demonstrations were.  The thrill was the whole point of it for most of the people there.  That it was ultimately destructive of everything, including the point that the demonstrators were trying to make, just didn’t register.  Too bad no one has remembered the lessons of the past.  Then again, maybe none of them cares.  Man is a basically violent animal restrained by the cage of civilization and these guys are stupidly lashing out over a lot of things, none of which really have anything to do with the G20 conference or any financial crisis.  Take your best opinion, I’m not likely to argue.

Outside of helping to get Richard Nixon re elected, the demonstrations and riots of the 60’s did little to affect government policy.  They also helped deepen the split that was occurring in the country.  It was a lousy time for one and all and we’re still paying the price for it.  The animosity of the pro government and anti government (much more accurate than pro and anti war) sides, still simmers just below the surface of our society.  Just ask John Kerry.

The only protest that I have ever heard of that actually helped change government policy, was one lone man who set fire to himself outside of McNamara’s office window.  One man of conviction who burned himself to death got Robert McNamera’s attention and caused him to rethink many of his opinions on the war in Viet Nam.  Many other protests and demonstrations of the time had great impact, Chicago and Kent State come to mind, but that one man is the only one I know of who actually got his point across.  R.I.P.

  7. Well guys ... here’s this morning’s headline for ya. From the Mail.

Fears of fresh violence after police are pelted with bottles as they try to save dying protester.

Shows you what the scum are like.  This is for them simply a joy ride. As I said before, just an excuse to cause mayhem and do damage.  And oh btw ... there are now reports of looting and police say the ring leaders have plans for more of the same today. And then there is also this.

Known Italian and French anarchists were also among the crowds in the Square Mile.

    nuff said?

  8. Like I said, it’s party time.  I don’t know if they are full on animals, but at this point I’d at least call them ethically challenged, feral, semi humans.  It’s the net result of social disintegration.

  9. As PJ O’Rourke once wrote:

“How come,” I asked Andy, “whenever something upsets the Left, you see immediate marches and parades and rallies with signs already printed and rhyming slogans already composed, whereas whenever something upsets the Right, you see two members of the Young Americans for Freedom waving a six-inch American flag?”

    “We have jobs,” said Andy.

I’d say that deftly summarizes the situation at similar times in Seattle, Chicago, Melbourne, Paris....
So just where is the Ohio National Guard when really needed?
And according to The Wall Street Journal they’re “Aiming at the Wrong Target” anyway.

  10. Happy, interesting link especially WWJ.
As for the Kent State thing.  I never understood how only four deaths made a massacre.
I was sorry it wasn’t ALL the rioting bastards!  Hey, you throw stones at armed troops, expect the worst.
