Why McCain could win the White House

  1. Not fully On Topic but ...

Grrr, it galls me when I read “a war-weary country”. What are we weary from?

Is there a single product or service that you have had to do without, even once, because it was taken for the war effort? No.

Are your pockets empty from buying US Bonds to support the war? No. As far as I know there hasn’t been a single effort to hit the citizens up for funds. The whole thing has been done by federal taxes, which have actually decreased in this time period. And judging from all the noise about earmarks, not a single district in the nation has lost even a spoonful of bacon fat from all the pork they’re slathered with.

Has your town had to build a bigger war memorial because of all the casualties? Of course not. Are you just sickened by seeing all those new Gold Star Mothers flags in every window on your street? Odds are that you have never even seen one; you may not even know what I’m referring to.

Don’t you just hate it how your office is a ghost town these days because all the men are off in the military? Ha! Odds are at least 10 to 1 that you don’t even know anyone who is in the military, and about 1 in a 10000 that you even know someone who has lost someone in this latest war.

And just how burnt out are you with the never ending pro-war propoganda that comes at you 24-7 from ever television channel, radio station, newspaper, magazine, and movie? Tiring ain’t it? ... because there has hardly been even one.

Couldn’t the daily chatter around the office water cooler just once be something other than talk about this combat effort or that one? It just gets boring after a while. Did you know there’s an election season going on right now? How about we talk about that for once instead? Yeah right.

So where’s your “war weary” coming from? All our constant strategic defeats as the jihadis push our troops out of every city and town? The embarassment that our planes can’t control a single corner of the sky, and our ships have to run and hide to keep from being swept from the seas? The humiliating awareness that American equipment just doesn’t cut it in theater, when faced with the total superiority of our enemy’s weaponry? The never ending retreats as we continue to fight two wars that just get worse and worse every day? As if.

I know I am just exhausted from seeing all the sun bleached, weathered “I support our troops” yellow ribbon stickers on the back of cars. Just so tired of them. Won’t this awful war ever end? Gosh, how many years has it been now since Bush’s ‘Mission Accomplished’ speech, and “we’re” still Over There?

And after years and years of this endless debilitating war, it hasn’t done a lick of good. The terrorists continue to strike at us here in the homeland whenever and wherever they want. How many malls have been bombed now? How many bridges blown? Is there a school left in the nation without bomb damage? How many million more of us will have to die from poison and radiation before our leaders cry Enough?

    ....................................................................................

Of course BMEWS readers are the exception to this sarcastic rant. Not only are we not weary, many of us are impatient that our country isn’t fighting harder. Many of us have children or siblings serving, and we’re all very proud of them. A whole lot of us have contributed to the effort all by ourselves, through the Any Soldier or Soldiers Angels or similar methods. We got involved and we’ve stayed involved, and never once have we crowed about how special that makes us. And we hunt the internet daily to find out the real news about what’s really going on Over There.

  2. Interesting article - I think that the point of the article is exactly what the Dems and msm completely ignore - the damage they do to themselves with their biased (and faulty) opinion of America. I still hold that the majority (and believe me, it may be down to 50.00001%) of Americans want to work at a job, have a place to call ‘home’, drive the car that they want to drive and do most, if not all of what they want - as far as how they do their yard, dress, eat, shop and play - without the gov - telling them what they can or can’t do and/or taxing the heck out of them for any reason.

And I agree totally with your ‘war weary’ dreary, msm drivel - I wear a two blue star pin - and I have only had a response from a Gold Star wife. . .

I do believe that the msm’s purpose of using ‘war weary’ in reference to the GWOT is to minimize it’s impact on the election. If people (young, hip) - think it is so ‘yesterday’s news,’ if the ignorant (those who get their info from the alphabet networks) and the committed liberals/socialists who will do anything to anyone just to get a bit of power - they think that they can win and then the terrorists will leave America alone because we got rid of evil bushitlerburtonco - since they don’t study history - they forget that islamic terrorism against the US predates Bush - by decades.

Sadly, though I think McAmnesty would have no problem what-so-ever wheeling and dealing with them (libs, dems, msm) - most especially if they Habla Espanol!

  3. Forgive my ignorance here but presumably when it comes to the election Americans will be voting for not just a President, but I assume a number of Congressmen and Senators? If Obama wins the White House he would still need a majority of Dummycraps in the Senate and Congress. I take it at the moment both houses have slight Dummy majorities is it likely to remain that way? I’m just asking because I honestly don’t know. If Obama won but failed to get majorities in the House and Senate then this would limit the damage he could do presumably? Hopefully McCain can win and get majority Republicans in both houses. To be honest I think when a lot of Americans actually start thinking about Obama they will get nervous. This fellow strikes me as deeply flawed and I think when he comes under real pressure those flaws will become painfully obvious.

  4. LydonB - yes you are correct - however with the RNC moving left faster than the speed of light, promoting a RHINO in (R) clothing as POTUS and of course the ever increasing earmarks, SCHIP and pork projects - the Republicans lost close to 30 seats last election (06) and stand to lose up to 20 in Nov. Which means that whichever liberal among the current presumptive candidates wins - he/she will have a liberal Congress to help them destroy America from within. The only real difference between the 3 will be how much and how fast it is done.

I think I will vote Libertarian this go around - but at least by 2011 - moving will be an option. . . Now where will be the question.
