Why do some women do these things? Especially the older ones.

 

1. Anything in the name of fashion I guess.

   Yeah, it seems mighty silly to me too. I don’t like piercings on anyone, in any place other than the earlobes, and no more than 2 per ear there. But others feel differently.

2. I have a box with single earrings - my son & his friends got the ‘requisite’ one ear pierced and I do not think any of them even waited for it to heal before removing - it is a testament to youth, stupidity and wasted money.

   My daughter has pierced her belly button possibly 4 or 5 times - not that many - all the same one over and over again - because she is a testament (on this most particularly) to youth, stupidity and wasted money.

   I do not know where they get it - or why - I can think of a million things I’d spend the money on that won’t offend everyone I see, won’t last forever (i.e. long enough for me to regret it) and won’t look completely insane in 20+ years.

   I most particularly hate hearing my mother-in-law (I’m over 50 - so is she) say awesome or cool - I want to scream.
