  1. Drew - we deal with a local gov (part of the Federal system) to remain anonymous - for our protection - seems like yearly now. Unfortunately the local number - seems to work when it wants to, so they set up an appointment (how cheery of them to do it for us) and the contact number was wrong. Thus begins the aggravating passing of letters, phone calls - the 1-800 national number - doesn’t do a damn bit of good - as did attempting to set up an online account - to me it seems that they strive to make your life as miserable as can be. And oh yes, if this appointment wasn’t convenient - you can’t call to cancel - you must come in. Letters start flying - back and forth - and the kicker - the last letter we got (before we actually made phone contact with the person - when the local office was supposed to be closed) - said - yes, you guessed it - IF YOU CAN’T KEEP THIS APPOINTMENT - CALL TO RESCHEDULE.

    Up until 2012 - we got yearly letters outlining the criteria to keep this Federal gov ‘assistance’ - but now it is this yearly ‘appointment’ - which is just them asking each of the criteria. Since it becomes such a mess for us - I can’t see them asking every single recipient all these questions every single year - I’ve been to the local office (two different states) - they are packed. I find it very insulting that they assume that we can’t/won’t notify them if any of our criteria changes.

    Stupid, petty little bureaucrats - makes me want to do what our doc did the last time BMV sent back the form for our handicap placard -because of no end date for a permanent placard - He wrote Permanent as in FOREVER.

    And now President Passerby is attempting to make the IRS (ruthless, vindictive, unaccountable and petty bureaucrats all) in charge of almost every aspect of our lives.

    What can go WRONG?

  2. I meant the above because this agency wrote a section in one of their missives that was completely incoherent - but alas, I could not find it. We just got another missive - they want signed permission to access a bank account records for two years. And provided a rule - that they never ever mentioned before, nor referenced, nor informed us of until this newest missive. Since we have dealt with this particular agency for almost a decade and in two states - I am beginning to feel that this is a new (i.e. under the current Administration) attempt to weed ‘benefits’ from certain groups/people. I am planning on calling them on Monday and making an appointment - as we have no intention of letting a Federal/State Agency get access to a bank account. I’m also going to send a copy of this latest missive to our Congresscritter and ask him why it seems we have been getting harassed these past two years - and question as to where these ‘new’ rules are coming from - and why we get no prior notice. Believe me - if they want no money in accounts - I can do that. But what happens if we have a medical emergency - having insurance does not cover everything. I hate bureaucratic thugs.
