yes, I know, katana are the shorter, more modern versions of tachi ... that field of history is a world unto itself
Note: as much fun as it would be to actually own one of these things, they simply can not be used for any sort of practice. They are real weapons. Fake weapons do exist though, from real steel unsharpened swords ( you need a full suit of real armor to use them ) down to wooden western and eastern ones, along with the formal bamboo ones used in the martial art kendo ( wooden or plastic armor required, but layers of heavy cloth will work, and you need a very sturdy helmet too ) down to LARF Boffers”, which are little more than foam “pool noodles” over plastic tubes ( field hockey helmet and gloves needed, neophrene protection recommended). Messing about with swords is dangerous and somebody is going to get killed. Be smart; “don’t loose your head”.
