What’s this?  No arms? No legs?  Oh, sorry. You aren’t handicapped enough for any aid.

  1. Ah Peiper I am so sick and tired of hearing you make too much money, you didn’t have form XYZ filled out right, You didn’t ______ instead of the real reason - your not a minority. I see people who have no fricken problem hauling themselves to Wally World - taking up a handicapped space (and I’m not talking in a wheelchair, scooter or even using a damn cane) - just small water buffalo size. I think that every disabled placard must have a reason listed - because I bet a good 35 to 40% are bogus disabilities.

And it makes me so angry I could spit. My son isn’t going to grow his leg and/or fingers back any time soon - he can’t sweat, so getting hot sends him into instant heat stroke - yet we can’t catch a break - most times.

The worst one was getting a letter from one Army determination office that we needed two adults (suggested was neighbors) to verify that indeed said person was still missing his leg - this was a form to which attached were letters that 3 Doctors (hand surgeon, orthopedist and a psychiatrist)had submitted that they were currently treating him. Yet, this bizzaro tale got even worse, within days we got a letter from another Army determination office that he was indeed an Adult Dependent Disabled Child (gotta love their phrasing). It is enough to make a sane person cry. Funny how about a week later, the first office called and said that all they needed was his birth certificate.

I guess that professional deadbeats find form filling and appointment waiting rooms to be high points in their miserable lives but to the truly disabled and those who take care of them it is demeaning, time wasting and usually not worth the trouble at all.

But to a bureaucratic moroon who can tell a guy with no arms and no legs that his household isn’t disabled enough - it all makes sense.

  2. @£ years ago my 2 daughters were born at 25 weeks, We went to the department that deals with the burth grant (used to be £80 per child) at this time both were in the special care baby unit and not doing well, saig civil servant said straigh out that under 26 weeks is a miscarriage so no go, IO was really stressed at that time and snapped, dragged him over his nice mahogany desk by his tie and invited him to the hospital to see then, if they were still alive, he then had a change of mind, authorised the giros and wished us well. Today I would probably recieved 6 months for my trouble.
In Cornwall we knew a creep who had a disabled badge and mobility car, he also refereed junior rugby!! still carma got him, he can hardly walk now.

  3. I have to agree with the council on this one.  The man has two able bodied teenaged ‘yoots’ in the house.  Put their asses to work.  Teach them a little responsibility.  The man should be ashamed at even having asked for help with these kids there.  What lesson does that teach them later in life?

  4. Ah Vilmar you have a point - but in this day and age the kids look at you (if they can through their hair) and tell you point blank that they will call the authorities on you for child abuse (or simply laugh at you) if they are completely lazy. It is nigh on impossible these days to get a teenager to do a damn thing. I am amazed at how fast it changed - My first two - non-judicial punishments were yard work. Both learned (and were made) to mow the lawn, rake, help with spring clean up and we thought nothing of sending either one onto the roof for a little gutter work.

The last two - I could barely get either of them to make their beds much less any of the other stuff. We managed to get the boy (negotiating computer time) to mow the lawn. But by the time the youngest reached teen - barely could get her to carry her dishes to the dishwasher. I can’t imagine raising a child right now.

And finally, the yoots aren’t going to be around forever - I guess to me, it is the principle of the issue - The Nanny State makes everyone feel entitled to be taken care of and then when a disabled person requests that - the answer is NO.

    Typical Liberal Insanity.

  5. I remember rain or snow ... whatever. Made no difference. We were simply TOLD these are your chores, do em. Now.
And indeed they were done. Surprise. It never hurt us.
Maybe today it’s seen as child labor?

I did spot the age of his kids which is why I mentioned it at the end. It did seem a bit off that at 13 and 14 they shouldn’t have been doing it automatically.

Bins are on the large side and with a large family I imagine they can get heavy.
For example, here there’s just wife and I and we manage to gather quite a bit. BUT ..
heavy as they get, they also have wheels.

  6. Hey Vilmar ...
    GOOD to see you here.

Wardmom ... I know I’m gonna be embarrassed by my question but have to ask it.

“Ah Peiper I am so sick and tired of hearing you make too much money”
I do ???  Does my wife know?
I’m not certain I know what that’s in reference to. ???

  7. Chris,
I forgot to ask you.  How are the kids now?  Is everything okay with them?

  8. Peiper,
Thanks for asking, one has just passed her masters in mediaeval studies (too modern for islam!!) and is great sadly the other, weaker twin only made 10 days and the lack of lung maturity let her down. The hospital was fantastic, this was when the NHS still worked but the rot was starting.

  9. Chris ... Sorry to learn of the sad news. Sincerely.

But I must also say WOW! and PLEASE congratulate your daughter on my behalf.
Masters in almost any history would impress the heck outta me to a point of silly adulation.
BUT .. WOW again. A masters in medieval history !!  The subject is fascinating and I love reading about it.  Of course, there’s much from that age that surrounds us here as you well know.  What exactly got her interested in that particular era? Was there one historian or one book or character?
Good for her and congratulations again.
