  1. It drives me nuts that I have to spend a large chunk of my life pushing back against a government that wants to take over ever aspect of my life, and yet it’s a government that is supposed to represent me.

And I’m really, really learning to utterly hate this nitwit in charge. I want a recall.

  2. “...I’m sort of glad my years are numbered,...”

Same here. Although - if we’re gonna have a revolution - I might want to stick around for the hangings. We have several hundred elected officials, at least half of which need to be stretched and then sun-ripened to a golden brown.

  4. Well,Seeing know one here much like my ‘who said this’ segment Im just going to post random entries from a nifty site that has buckets of them.You wont feel better but maybe you wont go looking for the razor blades or the hose for the tailpipe;

No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth!

  5. Rich, I like your little “who said it” feature. No reason we can’t jazz it up a little, maybe with a small amount of background info on the life of whoever the quotee is, or perhaps one of their unsung accomplishments, and run it as a daily. I’m up for it if you are - email me.

I cant for the life of me remeber who said THAT,I think it was Bart Simpson.
But I will consider it.Cant bowl or golf anymore and Im sure all 10 people who read and comment here might enjoy it.

  7. Drew, the biggest problem I have is that I think you’re completely right.

  8. I just have a tad bit of a problem with this Drew -’But we are, and it’s sinking fast. So maybe it’s time to shoot all the rats that have spent generations gnawing at the timbers, and hope that tossing them overboard will let the old boat float a bit longer to give us time to patch the leaks. It might not.’-

Because I think that the majority (I am really beginning to hate that word, but it fits here) of Americans are smack dab in the middle - working hard, playing harder, willing to pay some taxes to float the boat - but for the rest (social justice, entitlements etc) - leave me the h*** alone.

And thus I do not think this boat is sinking (flooding badly, yes) nor that it can not survive. It will be the essence of the ‘survival of the fittest’ that these losers scream about forever - that will save the US. Unfortunately, like so much else - the Left have no real clue as to what is the fittest. The Sarah Palins of the US - will survive - even John McAmnesty will survive - they have both already proven it. The Obamas of the US - won’t unless they get some thugs to run point for them - but there is no honor among thieves - so when Obamas usefulness is over - he’s toast.

And that is the reality that they have never spoken of, never acknowledge and won’t ever (or at least seem never) to accept - that the World/culture/government/ideal they hold up as utopia/perfection is in reality the most base, murderous and hate-filled system going - that has been proven again and again in history - but yet they cling to it and want to thrust it down our throats against our will. And think that they are smart enough, clever enough and more ‘ist’ enough to make it the utopia/perfection they envision. Or at least be on top of the mountain when the blood and dust settle.

Too bad they picked the abso-f***in-lutely worst ‘tyrant’ possible to sit in the seat of power - he couldn’t hold it together for a year - much less for the rest of his life - even in their selection of the ideal politico - they are so off base, it is to laugh.

And thus despite everything - America will survive - I just hope that sense and reason - prevent this from going to the armed revolution aspect.

Mortimer Zuckerman (US News & World Report) wrote a piece on Obama - long but perhaps one of the best pieces I’ve read on what his real legacy will be (can’t find it online - so I don’t know if it was just published or someone got it from a speech or something - it was a cut and paste in an email to me) the one line that stood out to me:
-’It is unfortunate that, because he is so far outside the American mainstream, and because he carries so much hatred in his heart for the country he seeks to lead, his failures will be viewed by generations of black children, not as the failure of a black socialist, attempting to bring down a constitutional republic, but simply as the failure of a black man.‘-
My hubby liked the closing line:
-’He will be the country’s unhappiest man, living the rest of his life knowing that his daughters know that the whole world sees him as a failure. He is simply the wrong man, in the wrong job, in the wrong country, at the wrong time in history.’-

Commenting is not available in this weblog entry.

Next entry: there's NO WAY to follow Drew's post with anything remotely close. But there's this larceny

Previous entry: slowly sinking
