  1. I’m surprised they didn’t put in a “Maximum occupancy for safety” clause, and then bring the Elf & Safety hammer down on the whole thing when they far exceeded it.

    Perhaps they’ll be smart enough to, next time.

    Perhaps they’ll be smarter and just tell them, “No way in hell.”

  2. the campsite is entirely legal because the travellers obtained legal permission for a Christian festival to be held on the field.

    True enuff ... Usually they simply move in.  In other cases, they legally buy some bit of land, or more exactly, someone buys it who isn’t ID’d as a ‘Traveller,’ and the land bought is green belt and not for development use. Generally, farmland. Anyway ... they move in with diggers and destroy the field and set themselves up quickly. Once done, hard to move em out.  Even though land bought under false pretense.

    An aside, Sarkozy (France) is evicting and deporting hundreds of illegals and the govt has destroyed something like 51 illegal campsites.
