  1. Sic Semper Tyrannis, or a good guy at the wrong place and time? 86 days as Emperor, then off with his head. 2 or 3 years in charge of Britain, then nearly assassinated.

The rebellion they talk about in this story was before that, when he had not completely put down a military mutiny in Britain. Hey, if your army is made up of mercenaries and you don’t pay them ... guess what happens?

You hire the aclu and claim your civil and human rights have been violated and then charge racism.

  3. Cool!

About 10 years ago I had a business stopover in London and was walking with my buddies near the Tower of London.  Off to the side there was an old section of stone wall and a statue of the Roman general who had it built.

There I was running my hand over a section of stone laid 2,000 years ago.
For an old Latin student it was quite a thrill....

  4. Yeah Tim ... tons of history here.  We have Roman walls in some parts of town in Winchester.

Most folks take em for granted and walk on by without much notice, but I get a kind of thrill seeing them. And new things from the dead past are always being dug up for a new life, in a manner of speaking.
