  1. THAT is one of the big reasons I didn’t stay there when I retired. Saw shit like that coming 20 years ago. The pure insanity of being more guilty for defending yourself than the perp for forcing you to.

  2. It’s not a win.  The legal system got what it wanted when this guy was first made an example of to everyone else.  The government in the UK wants everyone afraid to defend themselves from an attacker.

Self defense is a natural, inalienable right, and any government that would infringe upon that right is not fit to govern, and is, quite frankly, evil.

  3. Without the right of self defense AND the means to carry that out, you have no other rights at all.

  4. I’m all for the guy and his brother too.  I’m sorry they didn’t catch all the scum that broke in.
But I think the original reason the law went after them, was that they chased the gremlins and outside the house carried out their anger when it was no longer self defense.  The bad guys having left.
I’m fairly sure that was the reason given.  Of course, the original judge who ruled must also be living on another planet when he claimed that allowing the guys to get away with their attack would amount to a breakdown in the system of law and order. Or words to that effect.  Jeesh ... They already had the breakdown long before these two good ppl did their thing. The system here has been broken for all the time I’ve been here, and Lyndon who is a Brit, has spoken of it broken before then.

  5. If it takes a millionaire to win an appeal they obviously have issues with justice and equality.

  6. Re millionaire and appeal. Actually I am not sure his money had that much to do with it.
The public outcry here was daily and loud and newspapers getting in on the act as well.
I think it was the Mail that started some sort of campaign as well. People really were pissed off over it in light of so many attacks against innocent ppl where nobody had a chance to fight back. This one fellow did.  I think he did something else as well.

He did what so many others didn’t get a chance to do, and the public was living through him when he beat the crap out of that one career criminal. Oh byw ...
the gremlin poor man who couldn’t go to trial as he was so badly brain damaged, went on to commit multiple crimes AFTER this even.  Also, he refuses to name the other two guys who broke into the house in with him and they are still out there somewhere. Free. Police have no idea who they are so far.  I think they could get the info but aren’t allowed to stick pins up a guys willie or in his eyes to get info. Might work in his case tho. He’d deserve it.
