There are certainly competent black teachers. I had one in the Second Grade (1957). Her name was Miss. Sims. She spoke well and dressed well.
Of course that was 1957 in West Los Angeles when ability was still respected. These days, someone would slap her down for being “too white”.
You read Fred too, huh? Sometimes he’s way out there, but he’s a retired Marine, so I figure he’s earned his excursions. I’ve enjoyed his stuff for a long time, and I’m glad he decided not to hang up his blog like he was thinking of doing at one point.
Ditto on Fred.
Double ditto. He’s older than I am, more worldly, and God help me, more cynical as well. And I’m certain he was much more of a liberal in his youth than I ever was. But the cynicism is why I sometimes find him hard to read, although for the most part he’s right on the money.
Sometimes he’s downright painful to read. But somehow I keep reading...Fred porn?
Wow - If I was Gabe’s parents I’d find a lawyer to sue for the school district to provide us with the funds to send our son to a real school with real teachers. That is just so sad. I remember when I met my oldest son’s 3 grade teacher and she used the word stuff (as I guess shorthand for educational content) - and thought she was worthless - but at least she used full sentences and was literate.
It is only the children who are suffering and I bet a check of the district stats would show how worthless the education is - or that fortunately this Ms Williams was just one who fell through the cracks.
Gotta admire the guy for saying it like he sees it anyway. Not likely he would ever make it to as a PTA crowd pleaser.
