Tomorrow I could become a criminal

New Jersey wants to pass a law that makes it a crime to obey another law. Go figure.

  1. "Reasonable” gun control laws have never had anything to do with reason.  They have everything to do with making it harder, both legally and financially.  The whole idea is just to set up more and more snares to stumble over.

The crown jewels of my collection are a number of High Standard target pistols (Connecticut, not Texas manufacture).  About 5 years ago, there was a little change in the law under the cause of “safety”, requiring certification by testing to destruction of any pistol sold in California.  Oh yes, the test and certification has to be repeated every few years.  Guess what?  I basically can’t buy or sell my classic High Standards in California, even the same models the Texans are making!  It’s theoretically possible through a type of registered private party sale, but I retain some nasty legal liability for future misuse of the gun.

  2. I’m curious what if any effect this will have on the two online NJ based ammo dealers
    I do business with?.

  3. Well when all else fails, you can do what a trucker friend of mine did when he found out he couldn’t legally carry a weapon while making deliveries to one of the most high crime areas in the US (Hunt’s Point market, the Bronx). He bought a flare pistol.

It’s not a firearm. In fact, it’s safety equipment. But ya know… I dunno about you folks, but I suspect I’d rather take a slug from damn near anything than be shot with a FLARE.

  4. Drew - Seven years ago I was tired of being a felon by decree in that cesspool. Just move across the Delaware River - most of Pennsylvania is still a free country. (NOT PHILADELPHIA - but who cares about them anymore as well...) And an added bonus - The taxes are generally lower as well.  About the only thing that is marginally higher is gas prices, but for a couple of cents a gallon you actually get to remain a free man rather than a serf.

FNJ.  Clue: the NJ stands for the state.
