3. Don’t cheat yourself.  Next time make it QUITE clear what you’re doing for the $. 

   You want me to spend time scraping paint?  That’s going to cost more.  You demanded an 85% discount but want 100% of the work?  Don’t think so.

   3 kids of work:  Good, fast and cheap.  You can have any two.  In this case, they chose fast and cheap.  Next time maybe they’ll want “good.”

5. Not really 85%. A large part of the estimate was for storm windows stored in the basement. Something like 40 of them. But they did hire me to do less that 1/4 of the house glass; one side of one floor vs both sides of both floors. And the downstairs has more windows than the upstairs. And I only charged them 65% per window for just doing the outside.

   And honestly, it’s hardly worth it to load up the car with ladders and stuff and drive 50 miles to work 5 hours and then haul it all home the same day. I spent nearly as much time loading, driving, unloading, reloading, driving, and unloading as I did working. All that time is figured into what I charge for a full job, which is usually spread out over several days.

   No, there are just some folks who will always complain.

6. Well, you know what to do with them. *AHEM* Now, me being a cheap bastidge and all, what do you think of the “Mr Clean” window sprayer kit? I’m quite sure you don’t want to come to NM to clean my windows. I simply couldn’t afford to pay you.
