  1. Hey Drew, Sorry about your bummout on Sparticus and DA but I have a couple of Recommends for you if your willing.
On Netflix try “Lillyhammer”,the series.Lots of fun and funny as hell on occasion.
If you like quirky detective shows” The Glades” is lots of fun.
If you never saw it,"In Plain Sight” is a really good show about the WitSec Program ( witness protection) and funny to boot.
And I highly recommend “Sons of Anarchy”.
If you like Odd stuff try “Dead Like Me”. Very funny but in a dark funny kind of way.
    Have a nice day.

  2. I might suggest Walking Dead, as well. It got a little slow in the middle of season 2, but thanks to season 3 I am not the least bit upset about “As the Abbey Turns,” I mean Downton Abbey. Anyway, it’s a great show that’s really only getting better. Just my 2 cents.

  3. I’ll give that one a shot. Always looking for new and interesting shows ... the old ones burn out after a few years but if they’re making money the networks will run them forever.

But DA ... damn. And to pull that on Christmas Day ... England must have gone bonkers in reaction.

  4. This just goes to show...you need to continue to send in your pledge to PBS...or they will kill another member of Downton Abbey...so keep the funding coming or else.

Seriously, I am a grown man and Love Dexter and Walking Dead, as they are “manly” shows to say the least.  But I am stupidly in LOVE with Downton Abbey. I love seeing how life was a hundred years ago.  And the mashup of all the different personalities make this show a true winner in my book.

I was dumbstruck at Lady Cybil’s death after seeing her have what seemed to be a recovered childbirth and happy moment with her new baby and husband, only to die horribly moments later as the two idiot doctors stood by and did nothing.

Now, after all this time of waiting and hoping that Matthew and Mary get together and every time they would get close and the stars would seem about to line up just right, only for fate to intervene and keep them apart.  And now, just as it all happens, I get hit with Matthews demise from left field...OMG.  Damn you Dan Stevens, damn you and your dashing pretty boy good looks and oh so successful career.  Why oh why did you leave us so soon?  You won over my heart and then left...all you men are the same...bastards.

I love the evilness of Thomas and O’brien, really liked Shirley Maclaine’s character, find myself genuinely concerned about Bates and Anna, and I love Daisy in everything she does...along with everyone.  And of course, I would be remiss if I did not mention my favorite character of the one line zingers, Countess Maggie Smitth...OMG, she speaks her mind, is never embarrassed.  Count on her to say what everyone is saying and zing anyone who doesn’t agree with her...but her soft spot does slip from time to time.

There really is a lot going on...more so than your typical show, which makes it never a dull moment.

Now that Edith and Mary have “matured” and Cybil taken from us oh too soon...what do the writers do wehn there are no longer any young naive ladies to cause a ruccus, they introduce us to cousin Rose “Olivia” (think cousin Oliver on the Brady Bunch).

I do hope they haven’t jumped the shark yet with this incident.  I doubt it though as I still love Downton Abbey and there are so many other characters with so much story left in them.  Anyway, I was blindsided when I saw that last few minutes of the season finale, which I watched just a few weeks ago.

I guess Cousin Olivia will have to fill the void left in my heart.

  5. Also, I forgot to include, if you like Downton Abbey and are not to sick of TITANIC yet, this could be a good time waster.  I found it on Netflix in their streaming section.  See if you can find cousin Patrick, who supposedly died on the Titanic during the first season of DA.

See if you can recognize the Downton Abbey actress in this mini series.

  6. I like the old cars too. But I rather sympathize with Tom’s viewpoint; the real aristocracy in those days probably acted more like the MacGoolies (whatever. them Scots cousins) in the season finale. Or like Mr. Newspaper Baron. IOW, total shitheads to their staff. The DA bunch are painted with loving brushstrokes of pure gold, whereas the real ones didn’t hesitate to turn out entire villages if they thought they’d get more money raising sheep.

I’ll give season 4 about 3 episodes to catch me again. If they can’t, then I’m outta there.

  7. Zombies are a stupid convention and Hollywood has really overdosed on Z movies the last few years. I just don’t get how you can watch the same knuckleheads week after week screw up and Almost get stung by one and then Barely escape. Ad Infinitum,Geez, get a plot already.
One exception is Zombieland, which used Funny to very good effect.
