  1. They didn’t come for our guns, they came for our homes.  Methinks they got this shit backwards!
    Hmmmmmmmmm

  2. Probably someone who offers great public charisma in place of character.

    wink

  3. As if he wants it?

  4. No more bets, Ladies and Gentlemen. The window has closed.

    AAAAAANNNNNDDDDDDDDDD THEY’RE OFF! grrr

  5. Hmm, taking waterfront space away from a seafood processing company will not improve that business. Has anyone told the city that the seafood is brought in by boat and not freezer trucks?

This isn’t going to be the last of this kind of shit. It’s hardly the beginning. Let’s encourage our state legislatures to protect private property as (we thought) guaranteed in the Constitution because it appears that the SCOTUS has abrogated that document.

  6. State legislatures can stop this, but will they?  Call or write your representative.  Raise a stink, howl, remind them of re-election, or lose the family homeplace to the developer-politician complex.

  7. What everyone here fails to realize is that SCOTUS has checkmated all of us. You all think state law will protect you from land-snatchers but keep this in mind: just last week, SCOTUS ruled that federal law overrules state law in the case for medicinal marijuana. First, SCOTUS destroyed states rights and now they’re destroying individual rights.

You may as well tear up The Constitution and get ready for the Revolution. Or then again you can just roll over and let the dictatorship begin .... and make no mistake about it, it will be a Leftist dictatorship unless we get conservative judges appointed REAL DAMN SOON. Why do you think Democrats are stonewalling judges so hard? We’re interfering with their evil plans.

WAKE UP, AMERICA! SCOTUS HAS CROSSED THE RUBICON!

    cool grin

  8. Not quite everyone, Skipper.  I was on record about this in earlier threads, long before this blasphemous decision came down, and not a dozen threads ago, I made it clear that I have no faith whatever in the ability or willingness of state governments to stop this madness.

It is up to us, and us only.  Wake up.  Unite.  Organize.  And ACT!

When someone wraps himself in the American flag and goes down shooting in front of his home, facing the bulldozers, it will translate out to the Lexington and Concord of a second American revolution.

It will be up to us to fight the rest of the battles.

  9. OCM: I’m curious .... how would you feel if Hillary wins election as Prez in 2008, packs the court with liberals and they decide to name her Queen? How would that differ from your feelings if Dubya packed the court with conservatives and had them name him King?

The recent decision in the Supreme Court went straight down ideological lines. The five liberal judges voted to approve land-snatching while the four conservative justices voted against it. Where is your “crack down the middle” here?

  10. "In Germany, they first came for the communists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Catholic. Then they came for me—and by that time there was nobody left to speak up.”
    -Martin Niemöller

The Weimar Republic had already confiscated the firearms, when all this happened.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gleichschaltung

One of the major changes in the republic during the Gleichschaltung was the stripping of regional powers from the states. It looks like the Left is going down that same path - re: the SCOTUS decision on medical marijuana.

Then, the removal of the Constitutional right to hold property with the very next decision.

The line in the sand has been drawn and the end of this Republic is nigh.

  11. Marius is already out there in several noisy, rabble-rousing variants.  We even have a vainglorious wench in a certain Northeastern state who would fill Cleopatra’s sandals, if she could, despite her complete lack of charm and her increasingly shopworn persona.

Sulla and Julius Caesar are already waiting in the wings.  It is only a matter of time now, and methinks not very much time.

  12. Very nice sentiment, Tann. I’d just like to know what Cito fitting four into a Valiant has to do with anything.

  13. Good shot, Stin!  LOL

It’s a quote from Petronius.  “What the gods will, happens soon.”

  14. Incidentally, I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought of Niemoller (see “In Case You Thought They Were Kidding” thread below).

    wink

  15. Thanks, Tann. I had the opportunity to learn Latin in high school but chose French instead. It worked out as I visited France and Monaco and was able to makes some use of my limited ability. I never made it to Latin America though so I suppose I guessed right. wink

Hebrew was also offered but the idea of reading the book from back to front just didn’t appeal to me. LOL

  16. Stin, what do you think of that pocket-battleship model in the thread above?  ISN’T that a beauty?  Answer me up there, if you would…

    wink

  17. I rather expect to hear of some landowner/homeowner/small business owner going down shooting rather than allow his property to be stolen, and in the next month or two at that.

Add to that the fact that my own town just elected as mayor the very sort of crook who would try to steal land this way…

I really, really hope and pray that I am wrong, but if I’m right, there will be blood spilled over this.  I just don’t know how much.

As a nation, if we fight this, we will survive.  If we roll over and accept it, however, we consign ourselves to slavery to the state.  Better to use our rifles on ourselves than submit to that.

Where, oh where, is Patrick Henry?
