Condi is alright. She might be Presidential material also. I am still pulling for Kay Bailey Hutchison however. If we get a woman President, please God don’t let it be Hillary.

God, I wish, I wish, I wish it could be Condi in ‘08. Anyone but Hill & Bill. But I suspect that (right now) she doesn’t have a chance. Now, if Cheney would quit soon (for health reasons, of course) and Condi moved up one more notch...maybe?
Can you imagine what Bill would be up to in the WH while Hill was installed? It’d be “The Scandal of the Month” for the next 4-8 years. Who would be sleeping in the Lincoln bedroom - and what would they be doing to Bill? And with what?
Right now the Dems got nothin’ except Hill and an empty idea-sack. The (R)s need to be working their butts off to find the ‘08 candidate.
If the ‘00 election put the (L)s into therapy, and the ‘04 election pushed them into full-blown psychosis, then where will they be after a ‘08 loss?

Cheese, Republican cheerleaders make fine Presidents. Look at Geroge W from Yale. The Governor of Texas job is a fine launching pad to use to get to the Presidency. She can have that job if she wants it.

I don’t think that the Democrats will be suicidal enough to nominate Hillary. I may be wrong about that.
I live in Austin, Texas. Kay Bailey is a local favorite in Texas. She is the best politician in Texas, excepting W. She is very popular, well liked, and an all about class act. She has survived a run in with our local DA Ronnie Earle (Democrat and gooberhead emeritus), in the 1990s without a scratch. He is the same DA that is after DeLay like a duck on a June bug at the moment. He is not fairing nearly as well as she did.
Ronnie Earle does bag a big politician or two, on occasions, Gib Lewis the former Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives comes to mind. Under our goofy Texas Constitution, it is the Travis County DA’s job to prosecute governmental misdeeds at the State level, not the State Attorney General. Go figure… That was totally of the subject.
I think that Condi is too young, maybe later in her life. I wonder if race will be an issue in the second millennium?
Condi has already said that she’ll be going back to academia after the ‘08 elections so if the GOP has a female candidate -it won’t be her.
Btw-She’s 50 or so.

Sadly, I believe, GOP voters are not ready to vote for a black woman. A black MAN, probably, but we aren’t on the whole progressive enough yet. I, however, would have to vote for Miss Rice if she were nominated. BUT, maybe a black female GOP cONDIdate (hah!) could manage a win if the Dummycrap candiate was fucked up enough.
It is looking like Hillary is the man for 2008. An awful lot can happen in 3 years, though.
I was gonna say, Stanley re post #12, the leftys are definitely suicidal enough. The problem is that sometimes they actually have a coherent though, and that’s what makes them dangerous.
Hillary is shamelessly posing as a moderate, and if she carries on like that for the next three years, she have convinced even the moderate little sliver of the democratic party that remains to vote for her.
