Thanksgiving In Baghdad

 

1. Don’t think it’s quite that bad.

   The closer to the HQ you get, the better the rations, so the guys in major cities should be making out OK. 

   Our Mess Teams always went to a lot of trouble to make special menus for the Shooters on holidays and we always busted our Officer and NCO asses to get it out to the troops—I’m very familiar with Mermite cans stacked in a jeep trailer or in an M-113.

   Hope everyone remembers that we are safe and secure today only because of the efforts of men and women who are better than us.

2. Even so Mike there’s no place like home when it comes to family holidays. Thanks for posting this Skipper, it brings it home to the rest of us what these guys have to put up with to allow us to live the way we do.
