Taking The Gloves Off

  1. Only when American lives become more important than our enemy’s lives will we have success. The iranians should have been crushed in 1979.  After the SECOND embassy takeover in Teheran.

  2. Enlighten me armadefoc, when was the first takeover? I only remember the ‘444 days’ event.

Yes, take the gloves off. Then burn them! No more gloves, ever! Let the entire world understand that if the US military shows up your entire country will be laid to waste. Peace through superior firepower and the undeniable will to use it for even moderate provacations!!

  3. They took the embassy the first time in February 79.

The iranians proved what they were capable of and then did it again.  We did squat.

    Sound familiar?

  4. Kill or capture has a much better ring to it than catch and release. Personally I would go for kill or kill but what do I know? These people have been kicking sand in our faces for far too long and it’s time we showed them what real military muscle is all about.

  5. Political correctness and trying to be inoffensive in time of war is absolute crap!  It’s the same political B.S. that got so many of our guys wasted in Viet Nam and disgusted so much of the American public that many of us just said “out now”.  Haven’t we learned anything?  You do not send soldiers into harm’s way unless you are willing to let them complete their mission.  It is disgusting to have our men and women killed and maimed fighting an opponent that they aren’t allowed to defeat.  I don’t mind if we actually turn our military loose to do the job that they know how to do, but I have a real sore spot when it comes to taking political half measures at the risk of life and limb of our soldiers.  Fish or cut bait.  We have a job to finish in Iraq and it would be best for all if we set the goals and then got out of the way of our military and allowed them to do their jobs.

I would like to state 3 reasons for my opposition to our involvement in Viet Nam.  They are the same reasons I want us to do the job right in Iraq.

    1) Steve, who came back from the Navy ok, but with mind blowing stories of incompetence and wasted lives.

    2) Bob, who came back from the Marines with one leg and told me the same things Steve told me.

    3) Randy, who didn’t come back at all.

  6. How much do any of you want to bet that the ass hats that showed up as a security convoy and pulled off the the “snatch and hack” sneak attack on that tactical meeting this week (which resulted in the deaths of 5 of our guys) were Iranian Republican Guard?

Bets some folks in the Iraqi gov. compromised their security, too.
