4. He was found hanging by the neck from a tree, hands tied behind his back, an arrow through his chest, and shot himself 50 times with a machine gun, pausing only once to reload. Most baffling case of “suicide” ever

5. I did know of a guy who shot himself in the abdomen 7 times with a 6 shot .22 revolver in a locked room with only one entrance. The implications are unsettling.

6. I’ve been doing my own researches into this. This is blowback from the Hariri assassination in Lebanon earlier this year. What is unclear is whether this guy was (1) the “mastermind” behind the hit and was silenced before the U.N. investigator got to him, or (2) whether he was part of the faction that opposed the assassination and was topped before he could blow the whistle.

   The fact that he was Chief of Syrian Security (Mukhabarat) in Lebanon implies (1).

   Following the rumours of a military coup in Syria last March (they were only rumours - it didn’t happen), he was tipped to be the new leader after the human toothbrush had been disposed of, implying (2).

   (1) seems the more probable, according to Occam.

8. One down, several more to go. They are turning on each other in Syria. It’s going to get ugly. They are eating their own. More power to them.
