In 1971 George McGovern objected to a possible Supreme Court nomination for his Senate colleague and fellow Democrat Robert Byrd with the remarkable words, “I cannot accept a man who is mediocre, who is racist and who is unethical, for membership on the U.S. Supreme Court” — a prose portrait of Sen. Byrd that is difficult to reconcile with his more recent role as the “conscience of the Senate” during the Clinton impeachment trial.

  2. Aw, Skipper, he probably isn’t racist and unethical.  He probably pays all his hired help the same (meaning, as little as possible), regardless of what they look like.

  3. Figures.  Robert ‘KKK’ Byrd.

What an ass.  Makes me ashamed to be Southern.

How’s about we put on some hooded robes and go beat the shit out of him?

  4. I say, damn the torpedos George and full speed ahead. Lets RUMBLE!!!  Give me another Anton Scalia or better yet, lets resurrect Robert Bork and go with the nuclear option.
Damn what a fight, I can’t wait. Let’s get it on you retarded Dummycraps and ignorant immoral libs!!!

  5. Yeah, tex, that sounds good. I wish that the scumbags in DC had the guts for it. They’re more concerned with avoiding a confrontation and ‘compromising’ every chance they get.
