  2. Well Rich, this thing pictured is a rhythm stick. Or it should be. That’s the fancy CD player we scrimped and saved for years to buy. Instead of getting one from a dealer over on the other side of the state, we bought it online. And from a long established online business.

This is a replacement for the first unit they sent us. That one was problematical from the get-go, but had a fantastic sound. It died. It got sent back. This one showed up the next day. Inside of a gigantic big box was loads and loads of padding. Then the original factory box. With a shipping label on it from 12/30/10 sending it from the CD maker’s repair technician in VT to the online dealer in MI. Who sent that to us in NJ. Inside the box was your typical close fitting hard foam blocks, and inside them was the replacement CD player. In a taped closed plastic bag. And a handful of little metal and plastic bits. As soon as I opened the bag I could tell the faceplate wasn’t attached. It really should be. For this level of cash “some assembly required” simply is not part of the deal. Even worse, a small number of those little bits were missing.

So it’s going back. And they can darn well find us a NEW one, not somebody else’s somewhat repaired one, and ship it to us. I think it may be time to call the factory and have a word.

  3. I thought rhythm sticks are those things kids use to make noise like these:http://www.amazon.com/Basic-Beat-Combination-Rhythm-Sticks/dp/B0002U6IEA
Maybe thats what the technician thought too and would explain why its all beat up, wink

  4. SOLVED, finally. Only took several phone calls, most of a day, and then some more calls.

They’re calling it shipping damage, it was a new unit, sometimes the factory uses it’s national service center as a distribution point. WHATEVER. FedEx will be at my door tomorrow to pick it up, then we’ll be credited for both units when they get back to the dealer. Then they’ll order me up a new one, factory fresh. And have it super-double boxed and marked Fragile etc.

So it takes a couple more weeks. Oh well.
