Republic built a few experimental variants of the F-84, model H or K depending on the source. They were supersonic TURBOPROPS! The blade tips would go supersonic just taxiing. It was rumored to cause ground crew nausia and even unconsciosness. Witnesses say it may have been the loudest aircraft ever flown. So much for stealth.
