  1. And so the evaporation of the Pakistani state continues.

However, the one thing that truly worries me about this is where it has occurred: in Punjab.

This is the state where Islamabad either is or is most closely tied to, and where Lahore (the informal “Second capital") is, and this has historically been the center of the Pakistani government, and a region more resistant to the Islamist plagues that have ravaged the Northwestern frontier.

In other news, this occurred right on the government’s doorstep.

    Wonderful.

I feel like it’s 1947 all over again.

Unless I see evidence to the contrary REAL FRICKING SOON (like releasing those regular divisions the Pakistani HQ has stubbornly insisted on leaving at the Indian frontier, for instance), this may as well mark the death of the Pakistani state, by far the greatest Islamist victory in at least half a century (Afghanistan is debatable, but given their dependency on foreign sources for aid and material, I’m counting it out in this instance).

So, that being said, who wants to mention what their personal “Pragues” (from when Hitler annexed the rest of Czechoslovakia; our personal sign for when this no longer becomes a struggle that can be won ala Bosnia/Kosovo, the event beyond which any chance at victory will be long and epically costly)?

My personal one: Spanish North Africa. Strange? Yes, but hear me out: the Spanish enclaves there have been Spanish for centuries, are largely integrated with the motherland, and are surrounded by a vastly larger and potentially hostile Muslim nation (Morocco). These are, for all intents and purposes (save in the eyes of Moroccan ultranationalists or the Islamists) Spanish cities like Bilbao or Madrid, and so the Spanish public is probably less likely to write them off than they did Iraq. If and when those enclaves fall (with or without the uninhabited Spanish islands off the coast, in the Straits of Gibraltar) and are not retaken by the Spanish, it will personally be my weathervane for the issue, as it would be perhaps the first outright Islamist annexation of European soil, and it will show they are strong enough to risk the wrath of a regional European power and its allies in open war.

And that would be VERY bad news, which (coupled with the coming fall of Pakistan and potentially a possible successful revolt in Southern Thailand and the official Islamization of Indonesia) would mean that the enemy has advanced beyond the stages where he can be contained or defeated by semi-regular/guerilla warfare, just as Czechoslovakia showed that Hitler could no longer be contained by a mere token commitment of the Western Allies.

It appears that these will be dark days.

  2. I can not comment on the historical nature of this - as World History is not one of my strengths.

However - I can not for the life of me - understand how anyone can support this type of behavior in 2009 - where are the condemnations from the other Nations - where is the condemnation from the UN - where is the outrage and condemnation from our POTUS? Women’s Groups, Christian Leaders? Or the ‘mainstream’ and ‘moderate’ Muslims?

This is so beginning to look so much like the 1930s all over again - and look how that turned out.  We even have the crappy economy to go along with the entire World Leadership being damn ostriches with their heads conveniently buried deep enough to neither see nor hear the horror going on around them.

Once again - I have to ask - how is that Hope and Change working for you?

  3. VERY GOOD T.
But not to worry. Keep the faith. The euros will save us all by joining hands with islam
(plague be upon them) and singing we are the world.

  4. Can anybody explain to me WTF is wrong with those people? This “religion” is blatant insanity. This religion calls for everything Christianity calls sin. It calls for everything anyone with a conscience KNOWS IN THEIR HEART is a sin, even atheists. There’s right and wrong in the free human spirit, and these savages are programmed for evil.
