Mr. C,
When you get to San Diego, I’m sure you’ll be able to find something in the yellow pages (or on line). What you’ll be most impressed with though is a small change in the California Firearms Laws that occurred about 5 years ago. In the name of safety, all firearms sold in the state must be certified as safe. The testing process is quite rigorous, culminating with a great deal of damage, if not outright destruction of the test piece. The law specifies that each model by each manufacturer must be certified and recertified every so many years. What this means is that it is currently illegal for me to sell my collection of High Standard .22 pistols (made between the 1940’s and 1970’s) here in the State of California. I may be able to sell my Victor as it is technically still in production in Texas, but it’s very much a grey area.
The net result from your point of view is that many firearms (new and old) that appear in the other 49 states simply aren’t available here in California. You’ll probably find some, but only if the manufacturer has complete the certification process. You can go on line to the State of California and look up the approved list.
