  1. Have you considered writing your congress-critter?  He/she needs to know the level of ineptitude and arrogance of these fuckwits working the TSA.

  2. I am a Kiwi, married to an American and we live in Australia. We do not fly to La ever. If we are going to the states we go through San Fran.
There has long been a saying that “friends don’t let friends fly to LAX” and you are just another in the long list of that abominations victims.
They are even obnoxious when you are leaving the place.
Write your congress critter and get it sorted asap otherwise it will come back and haunt yopu again.
The creatures that inhabit the uniforms at LAX are proof that Auschwitz can happen anywhere.

  3. Kafka lives…

Don’t know how much help you’ll get from a congress-critter, especially if you can’t vote for him/her/it, but it can’t hurt to try. Another option, if you can afford it, is an immigration lawyer. They specialize in this sort of thing. If all else fails fly to Mexico and come across with the rest of the illegals. grin (Hey, whatever happened to all the emoticons?)

Agree w/ Ruahines. Avoid LAX at all costs.

Just curious - if you’re living in the UK, why fly through LAX? Why not an east coast airport, or even Houston or Dallas (Texas means “friend”)?

Anyway, hope it all works out for you and the Missus. Best wishes.

  4. Believe me TSA isn’t any nicer elsewhere and Immigration - well that’s a crap shoot. They let illegals come over the border, stay and look the other way (hello Auntie Zeituni and Uncle Onyango) - such bs.

The KGB doesn’t fall far from the tree - I’m sure this is orders from on high to get your wife to give up her green card to give to some illegal wetback and to get you all to leave the US once and for all.

I agree with the guys - fight them with fire - you are a US citizen and both of you lived and worked here your ‘productive’ years - it’s time to come home, so to speak. My own dear brother was a illegal alien in Canada - squatted for 10 years (I think) before they had to raise the white flag (and he’s a lawyer - if they spit on the law, however do they think anyone else will treat it).

Is Las Vegas closer? I’m sure that it has to be an International Airport - given all those who go there to play - I can’t see any of them being inconvenienced by having to drive several hours (or be driven).

Good luck - for great treatment of the older people - by the state, so to speak - look to the midwest. The tax laws and such are much more friendly than other states (we’d give anything to get the he** out of dodge, but we are stuck right now) and even move just across the river much less even further south and/or west.

Oh well - we will be heading to TN for Thanksgiving - able to see both adult children, their spouses and 6 grandkids. What fun - hey, I’m not cooking, should be wonderful! I’m taking a virgin version of the chocolate pots recipe you sent me, my wonderful daughter-in-law loves them (both she and my older daughter are pregnant - so two more grandkids in 2012).

  5. I have to agree with Wardmama its pot luck what kind of officer you get. I have had no problems at LAX or O’Hare, but St. Paul and St. Louis both gave me hassle. Vilmar is right though you should get a Congress critter to look into this. Immigration do not enjoy getting letters from Reps. That will have these half-wits running scared. You need to put all you have put in the above article to the critter to show them how unreasonably they have acted.

Peiper I think realistically what your wife needs to do though is take up US citizenship. If she has held a green card for over five years then they cant deny her taking the exam irrespective of whether or not she has spent five years in the US. She has a valid reason for not residing Stateside. Also her “sponsor” is a US citizen. They cant deny her the passport provided she can gen up on US history. Get on to the US embassy and get the process started. That way you don’t have to queue us with the dregs and dross of humanity. You get fast tracked by smiling officers who welcome you back to the US, unlike the surly bastards in the other queue. It may also pay you to consult an immigration shyster. They get citizenship easily enough for wetbacks so why not for your wife?
