  10. Cherry schnapps for me, please.  Congratulations, Skipper, and to all of you who made this day come about.

    I can’t help but wonder
    What would Jimmy Buffet do?

    Jimmy Buffet
    Funny you should ask that
    I’d say
Pour me somethin’ tall and strong
Make it a hurricane before I go insane
    It’s only half past twelve but I don’t care…

Posted by Z Woof    United States   06/29/2005  at  03:54 PM

  13. Now, do I hear wagers on when we will hit a mil???

    Any takers?

Just for the hell of it, I’ll bet Navy Day, October 27.

You’re right, Imp, cherry schnapps is good stuff.  Pros’t.

    wink

Posted by Tannenberg    United States   06/29/2005  at  03:58 PM

  14. Current average is 50,000 per month, Tann. That makes it April, 2005 unless moving average keeps growing at 10-20% increase per month as it currently is, which would place a million sometime around CHristmas. We’ll see ....

    CHEERS!

    LOL

Posted by The Skipper    United States   06/29/2005  at  04:04 PM

  15. And cheers to you, Skipper.  I’m being optimistic because I rely on my ability to draw new readers with my contributions (chortle chortle chortle!) LOL

    (Clink of glasses) PROS’T!

Posted by Tannenberg    United States   06/29/2005  at  04:07 PM

  16. OH boy, is my face red. red face The MP3 file at the site I linked in post #3 is Farkin’ ‘Orrible. DON’T CLICK ON IT. I posted the link without checking it out. For those who already did, my apologies. For those who do now, I warned you.

I’d appreciate it if youi’d remove the link, Skipper.

Posted by StinKerr    United States   06/29/2005  at  04:10 PM

  17. Had too much peppermint schnapps once in my young and dumb days a long long time ago. To this day i can’t stand the smell of doublemint gum! However, now I am older and wiser, so a sip o’ cherry schnapps might serve me well.  smile

Posted by imp    United States   06/29/2005  at  04:18 PM

  18. Using your Christmas calculations for a million that means we will hit 2 million by 5/18/06.

Using 15% increases monthly is insane.

But they do say the first million is the hardest.

I have no Corona and only one Pasifico so I have to switch to Amber Bock.  threebeers

  19. Great going, Allan - congratulations on keeping a great blog going!!!!!!........In 1969 I think I was making $125. a WEEK & my husband was earning about the same.........yet we lived well - owned our own home, had 2 cars, went out frequently, etc...........Now I make ever so much more per shift........and since I’ve been single for the past 11 years still own my own home, drive a Catera, and am debt free.......Boys are grown & on their own........so now can indulge myself in whatever I so desire - my granddaughter being at the top of the list.......Working out the numbers so that I can semi-retire in 1 or 2 years...........My ex, however, got remarried, had 3 more kids & won’t be able to retire as he will be putting 3 kids through college well into his 70’s.......I love it..........gonna go celebrate but only one glass of wine as I’m off to see the Moody Blues in concert tonight..........more vino after the concert!!!!!!!

  20. Something tells me that counter isn’t the most accurate, as not only does Tyler have proof, but I do too. (full screen shot).  Ah well, as I said in my previous post in the countdown thread, what matters is that the skipper’s site has that much draw, not who hit the mark.

Posted by Argentium G. Tiger    Canada   06/29/2005  at  05:01 PM

  21. I was riding around on a destroyer in 1969 and was making ~$200/month before taxes as an E-4. That’s with the $13/month sea pay. Where did it all go? LOL

    AGT,

I believe that the counter can show several of us the same number. If three or four of us loaded the page at approximately the same time we’re going to download the same stats from the counter. Just my thoughts on the matter. As you say, it really doesn’t matter who tripped it over, it’s what brings us here every day that matters.

I’ve still got that PDF file though. LOL I wasn’t bright enough to make a screen capture. Nowhere to post it anyway.

Posted by StinKerr    United States   06/29/2005  at  05:20 PM

  22. Thanks for taking care of that link matter, Skipper. I owe you (another?) one.

Posted by StinKerr    United States   06/29/2005  at  05:21 PM

  23. I’m a huge fan of CS&N-even though I wasn’t at Woodstock. It was due to that itzy bitzy detail of me not making my “world” debut until late the next year.
I remember felling so bummed when I found out that my parents had never been hippies.
Being that they were “war babies” they dressed geeky and listened to SHOWTUNES-and folk in the late 60’s/early 70’s.
That’s how I felt from about 8-14 anyway. LOL

  24. Good decision, Skipper. Now if you declare ‘rope yarn Sunday’ and splice the main brace we can take the day off and suck down some rum. In fact I have some Limon rum in the freezer.

Posted by StinKerr    United States   06/29/2005  at  09:15 PM

  25. I am going to be the 1,000,000th!  I am staying right here until that moment!

Congrats, Skipper!  You have quite a blog going.

Posted by yatalli    United States   06/29/2005  at  10:02 PM

  26. Hi all - went back to the 60’s & 70’s tonight..........Savvis Center rocked with the Moody Blues!!!!!!  Majority of the crowd was over 50 & 60 & a great time was had by all - have attended every time they have played St. Louis.......

Posted by Dottie    United States   06/29/2005  at  11:14 PM

  27. Mike, the BOY and I are making our annual trek to the Taste of Chicago(the “Taste").
Tonight the free concert is “Skynard” with Creedence Clearwater Revisited.
I’d rather see Steve Winwood tomm but for once I’m being a nice little wifey so Skynard it is.*yaaaawn*

  28. Where’s my fly-swatter ??

    Captain,

NOT FAIR.  Oh, wait.... maybe it is fair.  Since you’ve DECLARED yourself the winner, you get to pick who gets the tour of your cabin.  May I send in my application?  I have some Yo-Ho-Ho and a bottle of rum.

    :}

Posted by Phoenix    United States   06/30/2005  at  10:47 AM

  29. Captain,

P.S.  My butt looks like that girl on the left in the bottom picture on the post below.

Posted by Phoenix    United States   06/30/2005  at  10:54 AM

  30. Phoenix,

In that case, report to the Captain’s Cabin immediately. ASAP. Right now. Instantio!

Delta is ready when you are.

    heart

Posted by The Skipper    United States   06/30/2005  at  11:37 AM

  31. Cat,

I have sent the Captain some photographs of me.  He has them.  I will leave it up to him to decide whether or not your filthy eyes should glom onto them.

Posted by Phoenix    United States   06/30/2005  at  12:14 PM

  32. Captain,

I am Alpha.  I trust that will not intimidate you.  :} What should I wear for my tour?  The same lovely granny panties covering those prize buns ?  I’m sure I have some.

Ooh… will the seas be rough ?  I would hate to swoon during the tour.  Are you equipped with smelling salts ?

Posted by Phoenix    United States   06/30/2005  at  12:19 PM

  33. Fear not, Phoenix for I am a qualified first aid provider and graduated at the top of my class in mouth to mouth resusssscitation....

Posted by yatalli    United States   06/30/2005  at  12:26 PM

  34. Yatalli,

That is SO comforting.  But I think the good Captain has given all hands shore leave.

Posted by Phoenix    United States   06/30/2005  at  01:15 PM

  35. What did I blow, Cat ?  Be specific.  Don’t just ramble on aimlessly.

Just for the record, I did not pick out my avatar.  Stan did when he signed me on.  I didn’t want one.  I didn’t even know what one was.  So get the hell over this cartoon business you can’t seem to let go of and spend some time on important issues.  Go clean your bong.  I think, based on your rotten mood of late, it must be plugged up.

Posted by Phoenix    United States   06/30/2005  at  01:25 PM

  36. I believe I’d be easy to find too. I use the same handle everywhere on the internet and an exchange of email will get you my real name and my IP address. A little research will get you a map to where I live. Then again all you have to do is ask.

The pic in my avatar is about eight years old and I presently can’t fit in that suit, but I’m working on that. No, I’m not altering the suit.

There, full disclosure. I have no idea what difference it’ll make though. The StinKerr you get is the StinKerr you get. In person or through text. I’m not manufacturing a personality, it’s too much work. I’m a lot funnier in person, though. Text is too confining.

It’s always nice to know what people look like but it’s not necessary. You get a better impression of who they are by their thoughts and writings, which I think is more important for any long term [buzzword alert] relationship or correspondence.

Posted by StinKerr    United States   06/30/2005  at  01:40 PM

  37. My dear Phoenix, you may wear granny panties if you wish .. or you may come nekkid as a jay-bird. It will not matter. Either way, I ain’t sending no pictures to OldCatMan.

In fact, I think I may change your avatar to something more .... YOU!

    LOL

Posted by The Skipper    United States   06/30/2005  at  02:30 PM

  38. Cat,

Clearly you have no imagination.  As Stin so lucidly put it, a personality is discovered by what is inside.  In this case, this blog allows us to be totally transparent, and pretense is something we do not have to deal with here.  Therefore, you, if you had the ability for insight and analytical reasoning, would be able to judge character without an image.

Therein lie your filthy eyes.  Get thee to ROOM 101.  There’s a jackboot waiting for you.

Posted by Phoenix    United States   06/30/2005  at  05:57 PM

  39. Captain,

    Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

    I’m not telling.

But as you do not care what I wear for my tour, I think a fine layered look will be most appropriate.  After months at sea, I have no doubt the peeling of those layers will feel like a warm homecoming.

    I await your pleasure.  :}

Posted by Phoenix    United States   06/30/2005  at  06:03 PM

  40. Phoenix, in Room 101 is the worst thing in the world.  And it’s different from one person to the next.

The worst thing in the world for someone who thrives on bitching, griping, and breeding arguments and conflict would be....peace.....

    LOL
