My daughters intended (Marine Ssgt) is in al-Anbar province - he has been complaining since arriving - there is no reason to be here - no real violence. This was the al-Quaida stronghold - so once again - proof on the ground (who should know bestthat the surge is working.
Too bad Reid, et al don’t even want to hear reality or make a fair judgement - remember people, he and Pelosi would not meet with General Petraeus when he came back to the US this spring - it is not fair to the Iraqis, our Armed Forces and those who have died (and their families) to not give anything at all - a real and viable chance.
Really nice bunch of folks holed up there.
Stand off and blow the entire infested place to smithereens.
Drop a few dozen leaflets instructing those that would to scram because things are going to get real noisy.
No good reason to wade in and become targets for that bunch of scum.

They are ready for us. Giant bombs are buried in the roads. Snipers—real snipers—have chiseled holes in walls so that they can shoot not from roofs or windows, but from deep inside buildings, where we cannot see the flash or hear the shots. They will shoot for our faces and necks. Car bombs are already assembled. Suicide vests are prepared.
Powered armor.
That’s what our boys need.
