Open Carry In Alaska

 

1. There’s multiple schools of thought on the topic.

   I’m inclined to think that OC makes you a target.  It actually gives criminals an unnecessary advantage for two reasons. 

   1. An alert and motivated criminal is more likely to take you out from the back if he knows that you’re carrying. 

   2. An alert and motivated criminal is more likely to assume you’re not carrying if a weapon is not visible in an OC state.

   Here in CCW land, anyone and everyone can be armed.  That puts the advantage in the hands of potential victims.

2. Is it “wise”? Perhaps not. Does it make people “uncomfortable”? Doubtless.

   Note that he does not explain why anyone should be obligated to be wise, or to make those around them comfortable. He certainly doesn’t justify attempting to force people, through the agency of law, to be wise or to make those around them comfortable. Nor does he address the fact that both “wisdom” and “comfort” are varying standards that hardly any two people would agree on exactly.

   As argument goes, this guy is full of meaning as.... the sound of kittens in a box.

3. Dumb. 

   1) Liberals fear people carrying guns because they think everyone is just as narrow minded, controlling, self righteous and given to uncontrollable fits of rage as the liberals are.

   2) Concealed carry is discreet.  Open carry isn’t.

   3) In any situation, good manners should never be forgotten.  The essence of good manners is trying to make the other person comfortable with you.  It’s not a requirement, just a nice ideal that makes social situations better for everyone.  Like any ideal, there must be some compromise (on both sides) in its application or it quickly becomes counter productive.

4. You know what - I carry (concealed) so much that half the time I am dashing to the car to lock it up - as I FORGET that I am carrying a gun. 99% of the people I pass or see - would not know I have a gun on me. Loaded - all the time. GROW UP.

   It is a right - GROW UP. Talk about public rudeness - unlike the long time it took me to not stop and ask someone what they just said - before I realized that they were talking on a phone to someone else. Talk about rude and making others around you ‘uncomfortable’ -

   Liberals just don’t want anyone to even own a gun - much less carry it. And the little deal with the Tea Party guy who open carried (and was black but you’d never know it by the pics used by the msm) - proves how twisted the liberals are about anyone not lining up behind them like good little comrades, serfs, slaves and minions.
